Question about ending, might contain spoilers.

While i didn't understand half of what was going on, i was left wondering how did expedition 60 and 70 enter the monolith? Since in order to enter you needed to destroy the paintress hearth, which they obviously didn't Or you had to kill the two big guardians, which they also didn't. So how did they get in? And also 00 but i assume there was no barrier yet at that point.

I haven't yet finished the epilogue so maybe its explained there for what ever reason?

It's not explained. One guess... maybe the world was different back then. Or maybe they found yet another way.

it was not explained but i suppose the shield around the monolith did not exists back then and came only later as another security measure during the war between Aline and Renoir.

I actually just now found a journal of expedition 60, they said they were able to penetrate the barrier by going in full nude lol.

Expedition 60 was pretty clear cut, they were such swole gigachads that the reality warping, matter disintegrating barrier had no effect on their gains.

They were lead astray by Painted Renoir who then proceeded to erase them.

Was this explained somewhere or just a guess? since 60 were able to go in nude, i haven't found anything about 70 yet

The paintress didn't always have a shield. It was put up after some expeditions reached the monolith and were enough of a menace.

Painted Renoir got rid of these and probably put up the barrier himself after he started to want his "own" family

Barrier was for expedition 60 at least since it was mentioned in their journal and how they managed to get in, but haven't found anything about 70 yet so maybe it wasn't there for them yet

it wasn't explained in the journals, but it was told to us during one of the cutscenes by Verso when he was talking about the Expeditions He followed.

Expedition 00 got stopped by the barrier, as per Versos comments. So it was up from the start.

This but also a loss of hope that expeditions could do anything since 67 expeditions failed before.
