This game emberasses the AAA ndustry
So we have games like this sold for 50 and slop from EA, Ubisoft, Activision etc for 70 or more. This game proves the industry is gonna crash and burn. Made with a fraction of the budget of big games and a way smaller team and it is raking in the money. But nah. Games HAVE to cost 80 right?

To be fair, the AAA and AAAA industry frequently embarrasse themselfs. Having AAA games doing much worse than AA games over and over again in recent years says it all I think.
This game could sell for 80 and i would buy it, its just that good.

If you want my opinion i feel triple A in general can be neglected, they are still relevant because ever so often people like to talk and complain about them compared to other studios that do exceptionally better

I believe it is more productive to not talk about those studios at all so they actually start loosing relevance, its not necessary to bring them up whenever a non AAA studio does well

True
"emberasses"

Step one is to spell the word "embarrasses" correctly, OP.

Sorry to break the illusion, but the industry doesn't give a ♥♥♥♥.

Too many people will pay bank for slop that however much you think this game made, it's nothing compared to the profit made by half arsed releases on big name IPs.
All you can hope to achieve is to support the ones that actually put something into the game.
These big companies think that acquiring and spending as much money as possible on a game is the best approach. Instead its supposed to be about the love for the art.

Games used to be made with passion & money in mind. Then the business men came along and made it all about the money.

There are Games with good or better Metacritic Points, but did not reached Save Profit Zone and was declared as Flop. So there is no Garantes that "High Criticpoints" are also Game done good in Sales. sadly

Exactly. The video game industry is full of game developers who are incredibly greedy, dodgy and incompetent. And whose enabling all of this? Answer: Idiot gamers.

A recent example of such idiocy is the fact that so many gamers had rushed to buy Oblivion Remastered. And this is despite the fact that Bethesda's laziness and incompetence has been well documented over the last few decades. Their die hard fans keep regurgitating the same copium: "It's just a Bethesda game," "it's a feature not a bug," Don't worry, modders will fix the game." They have basically admitted time and time again that Bethesda are incompetent, yet they still support them. Like I said, pure idiocy.

If gamers want the video game industry to get better, then y'all need to shame and discourage incompetence. In other words y'all need to have much MUCH higher standards. But if you keep letting these video game companies get away with their f@ckey, the video game industry will continue to get worse.

Gamers get the video game industry that they deserved.

AAA gaming is embarrasing itself since AAA dev said that BG3 shouldn't be the standart by explaining that apparently AAA industry, despite their ressources, can't have "stable experienced team that know how to use their game engine, and long beta period where they listen to player's feedback" (yes this what they said).

Since then :
- CoD multiplayer (the one that came out early in 2024) was beaten by Lethal Company (1 game made by one guy that cost 10$) in player number
- Suicide Squad was humiliated by Helldiver 2 in term of quality and player number (despite the issue the HD2 met)
- Concord flopped so hard Sony had to pull up the plug 2 weeks after launch
- KDC2 cost 50 million $ and was way more optimised and less buggy and a waayyy better RPG than the RPG AAA game like Veilguard

And know Expedition 33, made by a small team of experience people that made a well rounded and restrained first project that have way more production quality that AC: Shadow. A game done, with more people and money, by Ubisoft the ex-employer of the team that made Expedition 33.

AAA gaming (and I should say North American Gaming when you notice the issue isn't that present with game from Europe and Asia) is bloated by marketer and middle management who see the world through Excel Sheet and social media trend. They will sabotage any creative goodwill because creativity doesn't milk people from they money fast enough.

I also think this game show that the industry would be greatly improve if studio from other country made more game inspired by their own culture rather than sterilise everything for the average US consumer.

Yeah this was made by a "small team" of over 400 people lol don't be fooled by the size of Sandfall itself, this wasn't some low budget indie game.

412 people (403 professional roles, 9 thanks) with 502 credits.

Except this isn't true, especially within the last 5 years. AAA big budget games have consistently failed to turn a profit while cheap AA games make profits that far exceed expectations for their size. All a board of investors cares about is their ROI (return on investment) and right now it's painfully clear where the best ROI is located. It's from small studios that are operating independently from the corporate greed and enforced political agendas.

There's been a plethora of indie titles that embarrass the AAA industry, but the thing is, those titles fly so far under the radar that you likely never even knew about them. This one, was showcased in the game awards and caught people's eyes because of the quirky style of it. It also helps greatly that it was a cheaper game and was on gamepass.

This isn't an indie game.
