Agility/Speed attribute
Higher agility/speed makes a character play more often. But does that mean that they get extra turns (so your party gets more turns) or is it just that your characters with higher speed get more turns and the characters with lower speed get less?

Speed is measured against everyone in combat, not just against the party. More agility = more turns for that character period. More agility on everyone = more turns for all of your characters compared to the monsters, almost monsters eventually start getting atrociously high speed anyway to keep up. Before 99 agility (and even after) monsters still can attack multiple times in sequence.

You can potentially get more turns with high AGL but 99AGL alone is potentially smaller gain that you would expect. Pictos will give you more. Some enemies will have multiple turns in a row no matter what and the fight will be designed around parring them

You can backup your save file and check one by one what stats investment makes the biggest difference. VIT, DEF and LCK tend to give the biggest gains percentage wise. Few levels into VIT can multiply base 150HP like 7 or 8 times. That will make a massive, colossal difference in the very beginning of the game. It will then flip completely at the very end when it will be about one shotting everybody. 1HP won't be a problem with shields and plenty of reviving potions.
It's important to note, from what I can tell, that monster agi also goes up the tougher the enemy. So more agi doesn't necessarily mean more turns. It may mean you break even with the same amount of turns as the enemy. Again I could be wrong but I'll use one of the overworld superbosses as an example. There is one that al he does is bounce. When I fought him early on, he would have 3-4 turns before a single person on my team could go. When I came back to him later, more lvled up, we took turns as normal. Can anyone confirm?

Thank you for these explanations!

That is so not true. 54Agi will make you a little bit faster only.
