Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Two hours in. Does it get better?
Uninteresting enemy design (except the thing with the hands, which was only in a cutscene); dull, repetitive, and far-too-frequent combat; contrived character conflicts ("But it goes against protocol!"), ability trees with no sense of magic or mystery...

There's pretty scenery but so far, that's the ONLY redeeming quality. It's not fun to play thanks to the every-three-seconds combat scenes. The storytelling is heavyhanded and the worldbuilding atrocious ("The Nevrons affect our chroma!") like some kid's first homebrew D&D world.

Does anything surprising or interesting ever happen? Do the foes ever creep you out? Do you ever experience a sense of wonder? Or heartbreak, tragedy, or anything to care about?

Everything like this. The start is always pretty tough but the game gets really good after some time.

My first reaction of the game was "this looks so cheap". But I still spend 50 hours in the game.

guy doesn't even own the game. Every 3 seconds seriously. There are several minutes between enemies. That comment is how I know your not playing it.

This.

Expedition 33 must be the JRPG with the lowest enemy density of all time, and the guy complains about too much combat? It makes zero sense.
Bait used to be believable

I'm playing it on Gamepass. The enemies are ridiculously frequent. Why would someone lie about something like that?

Dude. My username is *storygamer*. I'm not a fan of combat, I'm here for the sense of *living a story*. Maybe I just shouldn't be playing an RPG at all.
Why don't you run past the enemy then?

Thanks, I appreciate that.

I didn't know I could do that. Thanks for the suggestion!

The enemies are on the map...They are not random. You have to sometimes run quite a bit to find the next one.,

You don't know what you're talking about, it's really not "ridiculously frequent", don't ever try to play some older jrpg because yeah it was a lot more frequent back then.

And it's on you really because most of the groups you can just run through if you don't feel like fighting.
