Nuh Ive got bluescreen after update too. And lost my saves, but its easy to fix without other people's saves.

Bluescreen is ALWAYS an PC issue and has nothing to do with the game.
Check cooling, overclocking settings etc.

I had the same issue, but there is actually a workaround to get your saves back.

  1. Check if your backup saves are still there (e.g. in my case the folder is "C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Sandfall\Saved\SaveGames\76561197966519980\Backup"

  2. Start a new game (this will not override your backup. Don't worry, they are SAFE), play for a second and then exit game. This will create a new main save file.

  3. Check for the "EXPEDITION_0.sav" file in the save folder (one level up from the "Backup"). This is the main save game that is loaded when you click continue.

  4. Check backup folder for the last correct backup save (check file size/timestamp) and copy (and rename) that file to the "EXPEDITION_0.sav"

  5. Start game and continue the save game. Yes, it will still show as the new (wrong) game, without any playtime etc, but when loading into the game you will have your old game back! I guess these metadata is in the other files, but you don't need to care about them.

one clarification..I have to copy my save file from backup folder to one folder above and rename it to EXPEDITION_0.sav?

Exactly, there should be another file with that name already if you followed the steps, but you can delete (or rename it) first.
