Parry By Sound
Every enemy attack has a Sound Effect before it hits, you can time your Dodge/Parry WAY more consistent than guessing enemy's animation. Also Combo attack has rhythm like playing a beat.

Parrying in this game is a sekiro rhythm game. That’s it. Really. There are a few enemies that buck the trend with absolutely insane strings but they are very few and far between.
still hard when dealing with long winded attacks + short fast attacks done consecutively.

Not every. Some boses just instant hit you. Without any warning.

I'm also having decent success with parry by sound but not all attacks have parry sound. I also only attempt to parry 3-hit combos at maximum, rarely 4. There are some combo attacks there are absolutely insane.

To be honest, either parry should innately provide some minor damage reduction when you fail it or you should only need to parry certain amount of attacks in a combo to get counter out--for example: 3-hit combo would require all 3 hits to be parried, 4-hit combo would require 3, 5-hit combo would require 4, 6-hit combo would require 5 and 7-hit combo would require 5 and so on.
I've found the sound isn't always consistent with the animation. I had a lot of trouble with the Ice Eveque because of this. When they slam the spear into the ground, and blast out 2 or 3 shockwaves. The 3 shockwave version ~sometimes~ has a late sound effect. This is either a bug the developers haven't ironed out or something to do with the inconsistent frame rate.

I've been relying on visual cues ever since, because that is always consistent.
