Question about picto's stats and weapons damages

Hi, i am currently enjoying the game on expert mode. I am at the beginning of the second act and would like to start creating more "specialised" min/max builds for my characters.

My main damage dealer is currently Maelle with Medalum sword, which scales with Defense mainly.

When i reset her personnal stats and improve her defense stat, it increases the "attack power" statistic correctly (i am playing in french, i'm not sure of the exact word used by the game for this stat).

However, this "attack power" stat doesn't seem to increase with the increased defense of the picto i equip. To be precise, i found a picto which increases passively my defense for around 1300. But when i equip it, even if my Defense stat increases, my attack power does not.

Is it a bug or does it work as intended ? Are the stats for picto used for the damages of maelle in fight ? I have difficulty to assess it personnaly as most of my attacks with her cap already cap at 9999, OP defense picto or not.

They scale only scale with the defence stat that you put points in, so if something scales with say luck or vitality they will not scale with hp or crit rate.
