The only party member I'd say has been lack luster is Sciel. So far I'm enjoying Lune, Verso and Maelle's dynamic.
But...Verso is still cool character, so i kept playing.
I don't like his death either. He is more like an ordinary person who has his strengths and weaknesses, making him closer to each one of us and we would like to see him go through all the trouble and grow. But tbh death is a much more likely outcome for someone like him in this cruel environment and it's probably the best for his (and his gf's) closure.
the thing is (putting spoiler tags here just because.
His death is of great emotional importance to Maelle which has downstream emotional ties to the rest of the story which works so MUCH Better if you the player also liked Gustave, if he was just some random character you didn´t form any connection with you would not care about his death
But verso does grow on you so i'd encourage you to keep going.
