Act 1 killed my enthusiasm (Spoilers)
I have to say i have lost all enthusiasm to carry on the game after act 1. Mainly and obviously because I liked Gustave as a character. But I also don't really care for any of the other characters, their development has been rather shallow and at this point(in my opinion) and im not really interested in carrying on the journey with them. I guess this was a little vent but also to see how other people felt.

I know some people may read this as hating on the game and that not my intention and im not against the killing of your protagonists. I was also loving the game up until that point and will probably keep playing and eventually like the other characters but i cant help but feel apathetic towards the rest of the game.

Maybe people will disagree (feel free to) but I wanted to see what people thoughts were and if any were in the same boat.

Nah i was distraught by it to. I still carried on and am glad for it. Only some of them really grew on me. I mainly wanted to know the story behind everyone, which is why i continued for the most part. IDK about sciel/luna, but Maelle and the other 2 you will grow on, at least for me it did. Discount Gustave is a bro ngl

Act 2 for me lol
I had to mourn for a day ngl. But you should definitely keep playing. The other characters are given more time to be fleshed out in actII and Verso and Monoco are also great characters.
The only party member I'd say has been lack luster is Sciel. So far I'm enjoying Lune, Verso and Maelle's dynamic.

Had kind of the same, I think they killed him too soon, or not the way it should, death of Sophie was more emotionnally impacting than his, his death just felt wrong...

But...Verso is still cool character, so i kept playing.

Personally I found it strange that he had no weapon skills or that he was the only character with 80% of his skills hidden, I had about ten points that were sleeping... I was thinking more of a big power up... Well apparently there are apparently at least 3 acts, and given that it's the change of act, what will happen in the next one, the change of act ?? :moquery: (i don't want the answers )
Gustave's death has a lot of impact on the story in ways you just don't understand yet. Keep going, you'll get your spark back.

Ye I think the word cheap is a bit strong but im definitely the word that keeps coming to my mind. I think I would have preferred some more development of the other characters in act 1 rather then having to build that kind of connection over act 2. But I think like you its going to take me abit to get back into it.

You get 1 chapter with Gustave... give yourself 1 chapter with ***** and see what ya think. For all you know you might enjoy your time with ***** as much as you did with Gustave.
Come to think about it, there are actually a lot of signs in this game that kind of implied this outcome.

  • His moves/attacks are generally weaker compared to his peers, plus his skill tree is mostly locked
  • His ult move quote "for those who come after"
  • He still loves his girlfriend, who is already gone. And all the other female characters couldn't possibly form a romantic relationship with him
  • A lot of death flags he has made
  • His whole theme song is kind of a mix of despair & hope, but its core is a sense of sadness (ok ignore this)
  • ...

I don't like his death either. He is more like an ordinary person who has his strengths and weaknesses, making him closer to each one of us and we would like to see him go through all the trouble and grow. But tbh death is a much more likely outcome for someone like him in this cruel environment and it's probably the best for his (and his gf's) closure.

Well, he isn't really some random character. He is in the girls flash back dreams up to that point. What kills my enthusiasm for continuing is the pc shutdown bug

I was so broken that it made me want to carry on...for him.
Nah, it´s was great, a gripping moment that ties in very well with the rest of the story that in my opinion is incredible.

the thing is (putting spoiler tags here just because.
His death is of great emotional importance to Maelle which has downstream emotional ties to the rest of the story which works so MUCH Better if you the player also liked Gustave, if he was just some random character you didn´t form any connection with you would not care about his death

Yeah it felt a bit rushed for verso to be thrown it. It was like. We killed Gustave but no worries heres another bloke :D
But verso does grow on you so i'd encourage you to keep going.

imo we were given a replacement immediately, which was kinda weird. Didnt leave any time to "mourn" gus and made it jarring, not in a great way
