Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

POSSIBLE SEQUEL (SPOILER)
Am I the only one who thinks that with this theme of paintings and infinite worlds in each one, a sequel is possible?

It would be very interesting for each paintings to develop its own story and dangers to have a new adventure. It doesn't necessarily need to be a new expedition or involve The Paintress.

Taking the essence of the Belle Époque that Clair Obscur has and creating a new narrative could create new sequels.

Given the current state of Final Fantasy, future Clair Obscur sequels would be very welcome.

I'd love a sequel, but i think first i'd want a prequel or DLC side story that lets us play as Expedition 0 and go through some of the events leading up to this game.
Seems possible but at the same time I wouldn't want there to be a sequel unless they still have a story they want to tell still. I would only want this game to have a sequel if it's just as phenomenal and extravagant as this game and that'd be really hard to pull off.

It would be interesting to play with Verso too and see the expeditions he tried to help with.

It's possible, try to imagine Clair Obscur taking place in a different world in each game. It would be a huge success for the turn-based game genre, just like Final Fantasy did in the past.

I don't have Twitter but at a time like this I would like to have one, just to give the idea and tag Sandfall Interactive

I'd love a 'sequel' involving Writers and not Painters. Could be interesting

Sequel :
Alicia family is painter. Enemy family is writer.
It feels like they set up the writers at the end for there to be *something* after this, not sure we will get another though, and the issue is that now there wouldn't be much mystery as you would already know the plot twist ahead of time, its a concept that only really works the first time

I would love the idea of exploring the fire accident and Alicia involment by the view of the writer. Are they just evil or the Dessendre family have done something worse? With the power of the painter and the unknown power of the writer, I think the world can be expanded for sure.

Sure, but that feels more like a DLC than an actual sequel, expanding the current game is something they could definitely do, i just don't see them being able to spin up another entire game given the twist is now known

So in this case there wouldn't be a plot involving their existence in a painting, it could be about some abandoned painting in which the history of that world developed and some evil ended up appearing, so it's up to you to face this too, the game doesn't show certain things like whether it's only the Dessendre family that has such power to paint and create worlds.

The moment it was said that the world that Lumiere inhabits is inside a painting and that Renoir created thousands of worlds, it becomes easy to make a sequence of any painting even if it is not of the Dessendre family.

Well given they portray the writers as being a threat to the painters i would assume they atleast have a similar power, the issue is that now that you know that the worlds are fake and most of the people aren't real there are no real "consequences" and you would instinctively care less about the inhabitants of said world and they would simply become tools to help you achieve a goal

It makes for a far less compelling narrative imo

Interestingly enough, I'd like to see questions answered regarding canvases. If no painter is in the canvas, does it have life? If so then we truly saw the beings in the painting die no? As far as I remember, no information was given that implies they aren't sentient.

you would have to expand the Writer's backstory and build intrigue based on a lie from this game, from our POV we see the Painters as the victims here but a sequel could shake that up and then subvert our sympathy for this group here.

it would definitely lean more into meta elements rather than be able to enjoy the story inside the setting, so instead of feeling sympathy or seeing the conflicts of death from the Expeditions you'd have to deal with why the families are fighting and maybe some big reveals being only alluded to in their creative work instead of being something you can solve from the real world
