For the time it came out, it seems genuinely impressive, even if it had some of the jank from that time. It's a shame so many people will never experience it.
I disagree they are actually spectacularly similar. While Clare Obscura is clearly french based the music 100% still manages to capture the vibes of Lost Odyssey. And the turn based combat with added mechanics is lost Odyssey coded it just has a bit more in Clare. Not to mention the story, the atmosphere, that always looming moroseness gives Lost Odyssey. Clare Obscura is it's own game with it's own strengths but out of any game in existence is resembles Lost Odyssey most.
I literally cannot enter a battle in clare obscura without immediately hearing the Lost Odyssey inspiration the battle intro music is reminiscent of LOs "Dun, dun, dun dun duuuun" and that plays everytime I fight lol.
