as someone who suck so hard at soul games that I dont play them (I finished armored core 6 that is also a fromsoftware game but kinda different tho ) I managed to get in act 3 in expert difficulty.

But I'm not gonna lie, it took me way too much time and a lot of die and retry.
You probably gonna be fine in story mode difficulty
It's not truly a Souls game.

There are some QTEs for parrying and dodging and some people are annoyed by that but the core is turn based.

For the record you can mitigate damage with buffs and healing once you've unlocked some skills so not being to parry or dodge *all* the time (which is mostly a rhythm thing rather than a matter of reflexes) may not be such an issue.

I'd say you can try the fights in the prologue to get a feel of the game and make sure you don(t cross the two hour window in order to be able to ask for a refund if you feel it's not your thing.

Again, precision parry/dodge doesn't equal dark souls.

You don't need to precision dodge or parry to beat all souls games. It's ridiculous how people act like fromsoftware invented parry and precision dodging when you can easily beat their games without using it.
haha,I felt same when I saw parry and dodge, then I hooked up when I got my hands on it.
Just play on story difficulty if you're worried, it's not a souls like. Just jrpg style with a few more active options

if you have good reflex or good sense of timing/ rythm it is for you and it will be fun
if you dont have it then you can still have fun with main story but optional boss are out of your range

The dodging and parrying is a lot of fun. I totally sucked at it at first but I am catching on. You feel rewarded when you beaten a boss and you had to do all kinds of perfectly timed dodges. if you button mash your done for also.
The qte and minigames associated with it are complete ass. This is not a turn based strategy game, it's a real time micro reaction tester.

It not a "souls game". But the dodge and perry system can be difficult at times.
Advancing your skill and states will help you tank out some punishment.
Just requires patience.
As somebody who sucks at souls games (gave up on the first boss of all of them so far), I'm having a great time with this combat system. I did end up lowering the difficulty to the easier setting on a couple of fights I was struggling with, which made it a lot less strict on timings.
It’s not souls like at all. It has more in common with Pokémon in gameplay. The default difficulty is set to hard so if you lower it you will have a better time.

On PC you can jump in with no worries, there is a mod to tune the parry/dodge windows to your preferences if need be. Including shorter windows to make the game even harder if you are a true masochist :p

Mod should be pinned frankly.
If you have trouble with reflex checks then yes it will be rough. You will improve as you play tho.

The problem is that later in the game it kinda gets obnoxious; it's literally a rhythm game at a certain point on for boss battles.

Only you know your skill level but if it's a style of game you can't stomach then wait for a sale or bundle or something cause it is a large, LARGE part of the game.
My last Soulsgame was DS1 at Steam Release.
I killed the Endboss and what i found on the Overworld after i got my flying mount.
Playing on Storymode.
If you get 1-2 shot from optional Bossmobs, come back later with stronger pictos.
My Maelle one shot every Boss now except endless Tower Bosses Stage 10+.
