ps.: Switch to easy mode if you are really that bad.
There is very few case when parrying is mandatory, and when it happens the window for doing it and the clue is very forgiving.
I feel you bro. And it is not only the loss of reflex skills but also the loss of the desire to actually have insane reflexes - I have better things to do with my time than memorize the attack patterns of tens of different bosses and mobs. I am playing the game for the story and atmosphere (like all RPGs) and when I get punished in story mode because I did not time the parry at 0.0001 ms, it gets annoying.
...but seriously, change it to Story mode: It's far more forgiving if you miss Dodge/Parry timers. I'm in the same boat and Story mode is fun as hell.
Ain't nothing quite as rewarding as beating the optional Duelist fight cleanly.
Because they try to parry everything? You don't HAVE to parry everything, it is a choice. I have to because I am running around with 1 hp (The one.) and 3 shields, so effectively, 4 hits to a KO, but it makes the game more fun to me and I have 100% crit all the time lol.
Chromatic enemies are optional mini bosses and/or late game bosses. You can always come back later.
Some tips that might help you familiarize yourself with the system:
Practise with dodge the timings until you get a feel for the mechanics. The game will tell you if your timing was tight enough for a parry when you get a "perfect" dodge, otherwise the game will just display dodged, meaning your timing was off for a parry.
Furthermore, some attacks have audio cues to help you figure out the timing. You can use that. For me, certain attacks are much easier to predict via hearing then seeing.
Don t feel discouraged, its more about muscle memory then reflexes.
For reference, I am 44 : )
this is not some public outside area, it's a product that doesn't need to be designed for everyone
