You can rely on characters stats and strategy to advance in the challenge the story will throw at you.
There is very few case when parrying is mandatory, and when it happens the window for doing it and the clue is very forgiving.

If the game is not fun for you then refund it within the time limit. Not a reason to call the developers "dirty".

I still slay parry and dodge, but if you're pleased to know you can tank and regen life with correct picto setup and will be fine, at least in the normal difficulty setting

For a turn based game, both the parry and even the dodge timings are absolutely ridiculous. And getting one-shot failing that? Are you kidding me?
The introduction to the game left me wanting more, I am liking the story and the atmosphere. But being told to f**k off because I can't "git gud" because I don't have the reflexes that I used to, that's just unfair. And to hit that wall past the 2 hrs I have to refund the game, that's just dirty.

I feel you bro. And it is not only the loss of reflex skills but also the loss of the desire to actually have insane reflexes - I have better things to do with my time than memorize the attack patterns of tens of different bosses and mobs. I am playing the game for the story and atmosphere (like all RPGs) and when I get punished in story mode because I did not time the parry at 0.0001 ms, it gets annoying.

Actually, no one over the age of 34 exists anymore, so you're kinda wrong...

...but seriously, change it to Story mode: It's far more forgiving if you miss Dodge/Parry timers. I'm in the same boat and Story mode is fun as hell.

Mate, when I can beat the game sideplaying Two Point Museum and never touching a FPS in a decade you can as well. All it takes is getting your FPS stable or maybe even mod it...

Ain't nothing quite as rewarding as beating the optional Duelist fight cleanly.

Story mode is so easy it almost feels insulting to play. How do people struggle on the easiest mode?

Stupid post. Don't rein in others due to your incompetence.

Because they try to parry everything? You don't HAVE to parry everything, it is a choice. I have to because I am running around with 1 hp (The one.) and 3 shields, so effectively, 4 hits to a KO, but it makes the game more fun to me and I have 100% crit all the time lol.
You need to remember that you have to earn your game progress in some games and age isn't a excuse. Not sure how damn elderly we are talking about but this isn't a physical sport it's just some timing. You're not attempting some dark souls on a dance dance revolution pad run. Its not that hard.
If you are slightly above the 2 hour mark, I guess you ran into the chromatic lancier.

Chromatic enemies are optional mini bosses and/or late game bosses. You can always come back later.

Some tips that might help you familiarize yourself with the system:

Practise with dodge the timings until you get a feel for the mechanics. The game will tell you if your timing was tight enough for a parry when you get a "perfect" dodge, otherwise the game will just display dodged, meaning your timing was off for a parry.

Furthermore, some attacks have audio cues to help you figure out the timing. You can use that. For me, certain attacks are much easier to predict via hearing then seeing.

Don t feel discouraged, its more about muscle memory then reflexes.

For reference, I am 44 : )

then go buy easy games that don't require anything

this is not some public outside area, it's a product that doesn't need to be designed for everyone

People do not lose reflexes until their 60s. There is a study on that.
You are in luck, there is mod that makes the parry/dodge easier. I suggest using it.
