What exactly does "defenseless" do

Not sure if thats the english term, basically Maelles first ability with the broken shield.
What kinda debuff is that? Always seemed to do nothing so i didnt really use it so far

I think that when you hit esc there's a glossary of sorts. All of this would have been covered by the tutorial when things appear for the first time, but it's easy to forget. I just know it gives more damage.

You can check all game mechanics and terminologies under "Expedition Basics" when you pause the game.

im looking at the “expedition basics>>status effects” page in game right now and weirdly enough, defenseless is the only one not there lol. theres a bunch of statuses i havent even encountered yet but no defenseless

And it can be increased by 15% with the appropriate picto/lumina. Same with all the buffs.

I think it was the menu below, not sure

But it is there, just not a "status effect"
