Fun question - Original French or English Dub?

Not often you get to ask something like that. How's the voice work in the respective languages? Things are usually fairly good these days with dubs so I don't expect any disaster tier dubwork, but it could be fun to see which voices people prefer and why.

...Assuming of course this is an option. Just downloaded it, and will boot it up after dinner in twenty minutes, so it's mostly curiosity while I'm waiting.

They spent a lot more budget / effort on the English VA & it shows
English can reasonably be considered the OG & French the dub
It's not a bad French dub at all, it's well above average / pretty good
But the English VA cast / performances are legit excellent

French VA is very good, unfortunately the game is lip synced with the english VA

I'm French but usually never play in French cause dubs are usually terrible, but this time I've made an exception, for the country ^^ !
Funnily as my system is in English I still got English subtitles...

I'm playing with the original French voiceovers with English subtitles for the authentic experience. I'm still in the starting area and I already love listening to the characters speak in French, especially Maelle. It sounds very beautiful, which matches the very beautiful visual aesthetic of the game very well.

I hate modern English voice acting dubs and I hate modern English voice actor dubbers.

I'm far in with the French VA and it's very good. Fits the emotional tone of most of the game.

And I hate people who don't know what dubs are even more. Do you have proof that they recorded the french audio tracks before the english audio tracks?

Actually the lip sync was recorded and based on the English voice actors and that's the original audio for the game. The French audio is the dub, there are videos and interviews from the developers that explain this. I play in French just because for me it fits the theme but the English VA is very good and they did hire great talent.

French people almost sound exactly the same. It's like they subconsciously play into the ooo la la stereotype. The only thing that differentiates them is the pitch in their voice.

Huh? I think you got it flipped. The lipsyncing is very obviously not for the English voices. It's very often off.
