about the difficulty settings:
story mode: miss a parry or dodge? its ok
expeditioner: miss a parry or dodge? you're in trouble
expert: miss a parry or dodge? you're dead
This is a Final Fantasy Game if anything.
Think FF X or 13
only played remake and rebirth never play and other one
The game is lenient enough that missing dodges or parries is not a death sentence other than on some optional bosses (and you can come back to these later when you are stronger), or the hardest difficulty.
The game gives you a lot of tools to succeed and you always have the option of pumping defence and vitality (there are weapons which scale with these stats, so you won't miss out on offense), there are multiple skills which heal and do damage at the same time, and you can also build Maelle to be a tank that protects the rest of your party, every character has access to rechargeable revive items, etc.
Where some of the complaints about difficulty are coming from, are people stubbornly banging their heads repeatedly against optional bosses which are suppossed to be hard, as soon as they become available, instead of coming back later if they need more power / defense first.
