Dodge/parry just doesnt work
It DONT. Sometimes the button would not input. Sometimes Im not actually getting touched by the frame and its hitting me. V Sad cause this game looks so cool, but they really gotta dial in this system technically and visually

Skill Issue
Some skills don't register hits the same time you might think it would visually (such as a sword connecting to your character). Just gotta learn the timing.
There is a glitch with input handling in the game. Go to graphics settings and put FPS cap to 30fps and the dodge/parry will work properly. I think they didn't really test the PC version much.

Works perfectly for me.

Works perfectly here, and with no 30fps cap, not sure what that person is on about.
Try it with 30fps you will notice the big improvement on the timing. I noticed the cutscenes were playing back with 30fps cap which gave me the idea to try it for the combat, really janky to look at but it does improve the feeling of the parry a lot. Playing with high framerate makes it nigh impossible.

Can take time to adapt to it, parry is really hard though. I would not mess with that at all dodging isn't bad though. Can get fairy easy after learning enemy attack patterns. For slower multy attacks I been starting to try to remember. The seconds of time in between, Found it harder to try to follow them visually. Almost like memorizing a slow drum beat or something. If that makes sense?

Are you using mouse and keyboard?

Yeah I have read a lot about it being 'a rhythm based' thing, have played a bit of the game and it's really good so far. Just going to hold off playing the rest until they put out a patch to make the parry timing visually easier to read. Hopefully they will add a symbol that pops up during the parry windows or something to that effect (maybe a glow effect that pops up on the enemy?)

Animation-wise it's a joke as some enemies will 'wind up' their attack multiple times before actually hitting you so you go to parry at the beginning of the first 'attack' but no they were just stretching their arms and it's the second one that hits you and for some animations the parry timing is actually at the end of the attack rather than the start of the attack it's kinda all over the place.

The usual nobrain response here is 'get good by practising over and over against each boss type' as a defense for how hard it is to read these things visually without failing multiple times over & over. The game is great and they just have to do a few small tweaks to improve it and we're gold.

genuine skill issue, and not being rude about it either. your timing is just off. if dodge/parry doesn’t do the animation, it means you pressed it too late
turn off v-sync

I fixed the problem by using a controller. Whenever you press the dodge or parry there is an animation if its successful or not. The char does a move, the mouse and key board was not registering the command. It would take multiple presses. I unwillingly switch to controller and it works great and Im like 50 hours in and love it and am parrying like a Solid B- king. Thanks for everyone's responses!
