We definitely need improved map...
There are some very important things missing like:

1. Waypoint markers - there are some bosses who are just free roaming on the map without any signs or icons on the map, there are also some locations like the Gestral Beach and there are multiple of them so sometimes you might get lost while trying to figure out which one you haven't done yet.

2. Some kind of "Completed" check marks - some locations can easily be like 100% completed within one visitation, there definitely should be some little check mark icons next to these locations to let you know that you have everything finished here and you don't have to come back, there are simply A LOT of different locations on the map and you might easily get lost in them because you might not be fully assured if you finished them on 100% and you will keep coming back to them to see what even are those locations, especially the first ones.

For example, in Abbest Cave, there is only a boss and that is it, I have killed the boss and nothing else is there so it's 100% finished... there should be a green check mark next to the Abbest Cave icon on the map that it's done and you don't have to come back. Entering these completed locations would still be accessible of course, but it would just be a visual thing to let you know that there is nothing else to do there.

3. Sometimes I get lost around islands - while swimming, you have to enter the islands by the beach which is sometimes not that visible on the map so you have to circle around the whole island sometimes just to find the beach. It would be nice to have some kind of arrow to see the direction from which you are supposed to enter the island so you don't have to circle around the whole island, some of these islands are also inaccessible at first so this would also save my time while exploring because I would be like "Alright, this island is inaccessible from anywhere on the map so I will not even bother going there and just go somewhere else."

4. Minimap - just some kind of simple minimap which you would be able to make bigger or smaller with a press of a button would also help to save a lot of time while exploring.

5. Being able to zoom in - while exploring, all the lighting and grass and all kinds of other stuff might make some lootable items invisible, especially when the items are inside a box, being able to zoom in with a mouse wheel or something would make this easier to locate loot around the map.

I agree with no. 2 at least: The User Experience is very tight. It reminds me a lot of the classic games where you had to write down things on a piece of paper. As it stands there isn't any way to track progress of collectables or if a zone is fully explored. At least a % (percentage) would help :)

The rest are fine, if you could enable/disable from the settings :) I don't really miss them since it would make the game more of a check-list simulator.

Yeah, that is the issue here. There were some "Danger!" locations at the beginning so I just progressed further to level up, collect some stuff and come back later, but along the way I explored so many other locations that I forgot about the older ones and I don't even remember which ones are those, so in order to find out which I am missing, I have to just run around all of them.

I use a notepad and screenshots of the map.
It's fun taking notes, and understanding the map.

Gamers are very used to stuff just being easily accessible. This game challenges your memory and note taking.
A fast travel mechanic on the over world map also would be nice; you can fast travel between falgs in each area, why no fast travel between areas?

This become a non issue later.

That is not really a good way to do that though, some people don't want to spend hours just roaming around mindlessly because you have no idea where to go and writing down stuff into notepad, I have done that back in like 2010 when I was playing GTA San Andreas, I think that it should be in the game nowadays everytime.
Fun fact, the MAIN path to the story objectives inside the areas are usually light with lanterns or some kind of repeating pattern. The side paths are not. It's very subtle but they did give you a guide to follow.

I mean sure I can see that. But I can also say the same argument that some people don't want guiding giant arrows and waypoints and stuff in every single video game.

Things are very subjective. It's nice to see a game break a mold I think.

With open world games like this one, markers and stuff like this should be necessary.

It's like comparing an old car to a new one, new car has all kinds of modern technology that will make your life 50x easier everyday, an old car doesn't have even half of the things a new car has and some people prefer that, but most people who just want to easily move around will choose the new car. It's 2025 and having some kind of quality of life stuff like this will definitely make your exploration much easier and not as frustrating. Noting your stuff in notepad and by screenshots is pretty much the same as having markers and waypoints and stuff, but it takes more effort and more time which is quite unnecessary.
The more I played, the more annoyed I am getting while exploring the world map lol. This is really making the exploration part of the game very annoying and not so good.

The world map is quite big and it takes a lot of time to get from one end to the other, there should be at least like 3 teleport points on the map that you can travel to, just so you don't have to swim through the whole map for like 2 minutes straight.
After FF7R part 2 I am very allergic to anything that would represent tracking objectives, checklists, completion percents or map marker objectives.

Please, leave this crap out of jrpgs, if you enjoy it in Assassin Creeds and whatnot then it's fine, I dont play those games. But don't bring it to jrpgs.

There are literally games like BG3 or Metaphor which are even better rated than this game and nobody complained about this stuff being in there.
