easy mode
I usually hate dodging mechanic in turn based game too, but i enjoyed it in this one, aside from a few fights who were very annoying.
I don't know why society has deemed playing "easy mode" during your relaxation and entertainment time a bad thing. The story is the story, the game is the game, and if you enjoy the game more with a more open dodge timing, then please do that.
And as mentioned by others, you can't disable the dodge or parry mechanics. Dodging has a more lenient time window to avoid damage, but you don't deal extra damage upon correct execution unlike with parries.
Here is what helped me getting the dodge timing right. Maybe it'll be of help to you too if you decide to give the game a try
For Melee attacks, there is a distinct 'swoosh' sound right before the enemy hits you. Try to time your parry right when you hear that sound.
Projectiles, I parry on visual cues, right before they hit my characters.
Magic is kind of busted for me, unfortunately. Hard to get the timing on big magic attacks, as in screen fillers or whole party attacks. I can't find the right cue for about 70% of the time.
Some enemies take me a few tries to familiarise myself with their attack patterns, but it’s not too frustrating as I can get the timing down fairly good once I noticed the swoosh.
