I want to get it but
My reflexes are slow and judging from what I've read on the community page of this game, people don't seem to like the quick time events. I'm willing to give some time and patience but I don't want to be stuck on an encounter for hours at a time. Can anyone share their experiences with the quick time events with me? It might help sell me the game, any advice is appreciated.

Fortunately someone created a mod that makes the dodge and parry easier to do, there are different options that you can pick the feel right for you

You can have slow reflexes and still enjoy this game.

Or just play in Story mode difficulty, dodging and parrying is easier, there is no penality for playing on the easier difficulty as far as i know.

I usually hate dodging mechanic in turn based game too, but i enjoyed it in this one, aside from a few fights who were very annoying.

The game is awesome... You can just grind xp and the combat will be easier, you can also choose story mode! Its more forgiving for ppl with slower reflexes.
You can also use Cheat Engine and download the cheat table for the game, this has an auto parry / auto dodge / auto jump dodge option. Among other things.

There's literally no reason to just not play on story mode if you're having a difficult time.
I don't know why society has deemed playing "easy mode" during your relaxation and entertainment time a bad thing. The story is the story, the game is the game, and if you enjoy the game more with a more open dodge timing, then please do that. :chaos:

There is a setting in the options to disable the QTE for player attacks, plus there is Story Mode difficulty. The dodge and parry system cannot be disabled because it's a core mechanic.

Unless you haven't seen it yet, KB controls seem to be broken for some people. It fails to register keypresses sometimes. V-sync and other frame related settings seem to fix it for some, not for me. You can check by simply changing target back and forth. For me it fails about 1 out of 10. Changed to controller, since then I have beaten a boss that can insta wipe my entire team with one hit. Had to dodge without fail 10+ times. Did it in 3 tries.

Okay, you can disable all QTEs for your own skills in the options, it's straightforward.

And as mentioned by others, you can't disable the dodge or parry mechanics. Dodging has a more lenient time window to avoid damage, but you don't deal extra damage upon correct execution unlike with parries.

Here is what helped me getting the dodge timing right. Maybe it'll be of help to you too if you decide to give the game a try

For Melee attacks, there is a distinct 'swoosh' sound right before the enemy hits you. Try to time your parry right when you hear that sound.

Projectiles, I parry on visual cues, right before they hit my characters.

Magic is kind of busted for me, unfortunately. Hard to get the timing on big magic attacks, as in screen fillers or whole party attacks. I can't find the right cue for about 70% of the time.

Some enemies take me a few tries to familiarise myself with their attack patterns, but it’s not too frustrating as I can get the timing down fairly good once I noticed the swoosh.
Every fight is a QTE and someone said that they had to dodge over 100 times in a boss fight or maybe it was parry.
