Mouse and Keyboard
Hey everyone,

Is this game good on Mouse & Keyboard? Or is it really a controller-only game? Thanks!

It works perfectly fine with mouse and keyboard. I honestly don't see why a controller is recommended.

Some people (including me) find the camera sensitivity is too fast still even with the lowest possible ingame setting, in this case there's a simple .ini fix for this:

I personally hate controllers myself. never liked the way they feel in hand and prefer a keyboard and mouse myself. lets see how it plays ^^,

It's definitely not perfect. Even when set to zero, the camera sensitivity is too high. I had to decrease the mouse DPI, something I've never had to do with other games. Now, the mouse pointer is too slow, but that's better than the ultra fast camera...

You can try what I linked 2 posts above (the github link), 2 lines to add to the game's input.ini. That way you don't have to change your Mouse DPI

What kind of mouse do you have? I recommend one with a DPI switch, and onboard profiles. I've got 3 DPI levels anyways on the mouse, and a button to switch between levels. No mouse software installed anymore, you just install, setup the profiles, then uninstall. Logitech, Razer, etc. all the major brands make mice that support this feature. Onboard Profiles.

I will definitely try it. I just need to find out where the input.ini file should be created. It's not in the game folder or the AppData folder of the game

Should be here
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Sandfall\Saved\Config\Windows

if no Input.ini exists in there, just create it and put the following in it:
[/script/engine.inputsettings] bEnableMouseSmoothing=False AxisConfig=(AxisKeyName="MouseX",AxisProperties=(DeadZone=0.000000,Sensitivity=0.030000,Exponent=1.000000,bInvert=False)) AxisConfig=(AxisKeyName="MouseY",AxisProperties=(DeadZone=0.000000,Sensitivity=0.030000,Exponent=1.000000,bInvert=False))
Also, make sure you make the file read-only after. At least with the Gamepass version, the content of this file gets erased if after each launch if its not set to read-only.

I started on controller because it was recommended, but i quickly switched to mouse and keyboard once i saw how the game played. I like KB/M better.

Some people, including me, have issues with the keyboard not working properly. Especially "W", but also the keys for dodging and parrying are sometimes not responding. We don't know why not everybody has this problem.

Slightly concerning... I mean, Steam has the return window. With W not responding, does that mean like... WASD isn't working in town and stuff?

I also agree that the game works perfectly fine with keyboard and mouse. I have no idea why the game makes it a point to say a controller is strongly recommended. That is just not true at all.

The only thing is the sensitivity, as again others have mentioned. I have it set to zero, and it's just barely ok for me. I want it to be a bit slower, but I'm not interested in mucking around with files to adjust it.

The developers REALLY need to fix the mouse sensitivity, as the lowest setting is still a bit too fast. I can't imagine anyone playing it on anything higher than 2.
It takes 2, sometimes 3 presses of a key to work in combat for me, and many other people too. I tried using a controller to see if it was the game or me, and it's the game (controller only ever takes 1 key-press for anything).

Okay, it works. Thanks! I can go back to my default DPI.

I have a problem where "W" is not registered when I press it, it takes two or three tries. I rebound parry and dodge at the beginning, so there is no problem with those or any other keys.

That's whack. If you rebind W to another key, does it still do that? Lol that's a terrible issue for a PC title.
You can play with KB+M but there are so many bugs with it. Mouse leaving the screen, lost input for W for whatever reason. Mouse being stuck in game even when alt-tabbed. But besides that' no reason not to use keyboard. Also if you have like a wooting you get the nice 0.1mm actuation point.
