He's not talking about the math, but about her appearance and yeah, it's not conclusive that she is 16 by her appearance. People mistook her for being 24 and her appearance did not make anyone consider they might be mistaken.

If you take a bunch of 16 and 18 year old and try to guess each one's age, you're going to have a very big error margin there. It's actually difficult to tell the diffrence.

As to OP, while Maelle does look much older than 16, she looks nowhere near as old as Sciel. She looks more like 20.

The math doesn't lie. Her Gommage is in 9 years. Assuming 33 is counted in the math, the number will be 25 on her Gommage. She will be 25. 25-9=16.

I know she's 16. The game tells you and I never said otherwise. I said that 16 is not considered underage for people in France.

There are plenty of 20 year olds that look like her. It also doesn't generally make a lot of sense that they would send a 16 year old on a suicide mission. It would be better for them to spend a few more years honing their skills, as was the case for the other party members.
