Yes, its good.
Obviously people who aren't or never were Jrpg fans. your mileage will vary greatly.
That is also a huge problem with steam reviews where nostalgia gets baked in, as we are in the age of spinoffs and throwbacks and homages.
I just want to know, from somebody who played this going in blind, in isolation with none of the "good for small team" or "reminds me of great times playing X", is it good?
Like the game itself, not the external factors.
But for what is worth, yes, I think it is pretty good if you are not bothered by QTE in your turn-based game (Which seems to be the main complaint of some people_
Is it the GOTY? IMO No.
It is objectively a good game and worth playing IMO. It has some roughness around the edges that you may or may not tolerate. It has an art style atmosphere or vibe that you may or may not tolerate. Watch a video or review.
In fact, if you're really fishing for opinions that align with your own and don't trust journos or influencers, seek reviewers on games you consider to be great and see what their opinion is regarding your favorite titles. If it aligns, then watch their review of E33.
