How to catch that thing that constantly runs away?

It looks like some broken pot with a flame inside and its running away before i can get into reach and i have hunted it for 5 minutes but it always goes the same way

There should be a glowing spot nearby on the ground, that's where you're meant to catch it. The direction you approach from changes the direction it runs, so try to use that.
