do bosses one shot you and is defence stat even viable?
And does difficulty setting not matter that much?

EDIT: Does dodge hp regen, how ever this is pulled off, heal a certain amount or a percentage of my own vitality?

im playing on expert, im going mostly might for my characters, but depending on wep scaling, i may put in some points into whatever is scaling. im willing to be punished to learn to parry, and 20 hours in, im really happy with this playstyle.

I have only fought one main story boss that had a one shot and it was part of a gag, however defense does not seem that important and agility is vastly superior to level

Difficulty wise you seem to take much more damage on some enemies and stricter timings

I'm playing on story mode and still getting stomped into the ground by bosses.

I suck at this, but it is awesome!
Defense is really good in this game. Bosses do not one shot you even on Expert mode if you've invested decently into defensive stats (or they're using a skill made to instantly kill, such as a certain turtle's ice spell). I highly recommend investing into defensive stats in this game unless you want to have some sort of glass cannon build because you're a parrying god.

wonder how easy it is to progress in the game as parry god vs how often I would have to restart a boss battle with a single char being decent in defense and the rest goes full dmg.

at least there are also aoe attacks against all player chars at once and if only one is gifted in tanking, this one might then be the only one surviving...

guess I've to try it out and see for myself

I do actively parry/dodge but when I ♥♥♥♥ up, nothing has ever like oneshot me so far lol
Defense is actually really important. If you have a character equip a weapon that scales with Defense, then you can improve damage done and reduce your damage taking by just increasing the Defense stat.

The best stat to invest is agility. It gives i think 2 points of defense per level vs 3 points on defense stat.

Get a agility luck weapon on all characters and equip at least 1 high level picto with health stat on it and you are good to steamroll.

at which difficulty and how far into the game? Watched some optional bosses who erase a team quite fast, maybe I'm wrong

Oh yeah, I've seen a few videos of people playing the game now where they forget to pay attention to the actual stats on pictos and it'd be funny how night and day the difference is if it didn't make my autist brain involuntarily cringe so hard. :deSirCat:

I'm not sure exactly how the formula works, but my experience is that defence is kind of just weaker than vitality. Maybe at really high levels of vitality things might be different, but I think vitality is generally the preferred defensive stat.

is it true that health spells heal a percentage of the vitality, so more vitality would be advisable for certain routes... if so what about more vitality and the dodge hp regen?

Idk how far in I am exactly, but I'm assuming I'm near the end of act2. I can go through corals now and am close enough that I can almost touch her feet. playing on expert
I'm currently 25hrs into the game and the only 3 stats I'm increasing are Vitality,Speed, and Luck.
Defense is useless as long as you can dodge. Strength is good but also pointless as higher crit chance will do more DMG and increasing these 3 stats generally increases your DMG as well.

hopefully you can find synergies, sounds like it is the case, that you don't have to stick to certain builds, depending on how good your reflexes are
