How does turn order work?
Can anyone explain?
One would figure its just Speed stat but that is clearly not it.

Lune has 42 more points in speed than Gustave but after giving him a new weapon suddenly he keeps going first (which i dont like)

Any updates? the speed difference by my 2 characters is a whopping 171 (!!!!) now. And Gustave STILL GOES FIRST. anyone can explain? This is awful! you can strategize like this i dont WANT him to go first.

A reddit comment:

the speed only starts affecting after the 2nd turn i believe the order u have it set at in party is what the initial order is

yeah ok so i can change the order how i want it LOL?

If you hit the mobs with your attack on the map - you get "party first strike" which means each member of your party gets to move in the order you placed them.

If you just run into enemy - speed decides.

Weapons usually don't affect speed, but 3 equiped Pictos do - they all come with not only abilities but stats.

The pictos you use through Lumina (as many as you want) don't have stats attached.

There's also one Pictos that makes your character go first. But I think using the F attack can still mess with this.
this is the only thing that bothers me, i cant make sense of the turn order (speed stat)

What do you mean by "order you placed them"? I don't see a way to "place" their order. All you can do is dismiss/add to party.

I've experimented with this Pictos. If you hit the mob on the map, it does nothing. If the mob runs into you, the char equipped with it will go first (usually with all the ememies directly after). I can only see this pictos being useful for bosses.

That's not it either, unless there's some strange, unintuitive order to it. Can you please explain in steps how you set the order?

Probably like Opera Omnia. There is Turn which is mainly affected by your SPEED then there's Turn Rate

Especially Sprong, who can only be triggered while swimming. No F attacks for him.
Yeah it clearly seems to be 'order added to party' but this is not explained anywhere in game. That is only for the first turn with advantage in combat after that Speed stat takes over.

If you have the go first picto it is below advantage in combat. I wonder if it works if you have regular combat you can go before the enemy regardless of speed. I dont use the picto but it can be a good idea if you only want slow characters to use it i guess. Give it to sciel and have her pass the turn to one of the 2 other members or something.

Honestly I am in NG+ and STILL do not get how this works.
On first strike Maelle is first (As she should, highest speed)
when attacked, monocco is first then LUNA and then Maelle (highest speed)

Like.. what? How do you reverse the latter order? Do you mean the one you add LAST in party menu moves LAST when attacked? Or other way around?

If you start with advantage first strike (the manual attack to enter combat) then the first round will be order of party and then enemies and then according to speed
If all characters have lumina first strike and you enter combat without the manual attack then all characters start round according to party order and then speed is determined for rest (possibility for 2 turn for each character if enemies have lower speed)

I explained the first strike mechanics for lumina/manual here
