Why are we not sailing?!
Like, this tower with the big number on it is at most 10min away. What is going on with those people, there are ships in the harbour? Did your forget how to sail?!

The premise of the game is that they sail to it every year.

Invisible; imperceptive to the naked eye. Or I may have failed my sight check, probably that.... I'm still going to blame it on those creepy Pinocchio Mimes, (Cool little enemy), still hate them.
Well okey, the point still stands. The coast they are landing on is definitely not the same where the pillar is standing on. Could have just sailed in with 20 ships and bombarded this thing to hell.

You never send everything you have - military, civilian, man, woman, and child - on a dangerous expedition to end a threat, you send a trained team of various roles in a combat team. Did you think the US send school teachers into the Pacific during WW2?

You do know that during WW2 (or any other war) the US did recruit civilians (probably teachers as well) to fight? Obviously they went through basic training first but that is what happend lol.

This is going on for 67 years and nobody thought "Well we can just try and built rockets or cannons, because it's weird that nobody ever returns as soon as we land on the coast".

They use a lot of tools. Each expedition had some kind of theme it seems. A specialty they prioritized for a greater chance of success. Some quite advanced technologically as well. You see/hear about them as you play.

Attempts were made.

My point was that leaders didn't round up everyone and sent them off to fight solely because they were of that age and/or physically capable. Yes, I know the men received basic training but the way OP made his post made me interpret it as, "Just send thousands of people at the Paintress! One of those meatshields is sure to destroy her!"

One of the expedition leaders before you mentions in his journal that the city council was doing it to maintain power. They were using expeditions to get rid of opponents, dissidents and pretty much anyone they didn't like. It was like colonizing Australia.

If you play the game this question answers itself. Try playing the game *before* criticizing it, you'll get better results.
