It's not a bug, but I will agree that it's not all that well designed, mainly because there's nothing to really indicate shooting the crystals is doing anything until you shoot them enough for it to change color.

Multiple fights in the game are like this where the enemy has a weakness or a gimmick of some kind. If you take a moment to think instead of bashing your head against a boss over and over again you will discover the trick to kill them.

I was pretty screwed with one man down and having wasted several turns doing no damage until I read this and completely wasted him in three turns, so nah it's fine.

Thank you for informing us about this, I know I’m one of many that shot the crystal once thinking it was a weak spot. Nothing happened and thought nothing of it and tried to race this “bug” mechanic but following this information I beat him first try easily

hahaha omg I thought hitting the red crystal was not doing anything after 1 to 2 hits, so I restarted the game lol, thanks yall!
