Worth it for the story?
To be honest I've never liked turn based games whether be an rpg or an rts, it's just boring to me. I tried Clair on gamepass, but after the first 2 tutorial fights I quit because the tragically bad parry-dodge qte. I know skill issue, but I don't care. This way the game FOR ME is not fun, but a chore. Is it worth to push on despite the awful qte mechanics?
I'm a 44 year old gamer, I've seen it all, so I always prefer a great story to gameplay or visuals, and I hear from everywhere that Clair is GOTY contender, so I don't want to toss it aside just because I hate the combat.

You can lower the difficulty, and I think you can turn on auto-QTE. The story is interesting and worth it. But I'm only about 7 hours in. To me, the story is a mixture of Nier: Automata and Final Fantasy games. The world is devastated, and you want to know why and if there will be a solution. The setting allows for many fantastical elements.

I'm not really into turn based combat either but the game has been still enjoyable to me. You can select difficulty and have auto QTEs for attacks, so this made it better.
But yes, the parry part is an issue for many, including me, but so far I manage and still like the game.

Im on act 2 and the story is damn gripping its like square enix game. Lots going on a few answers lots of questions its really good. As for combat, parry does get easier if you listen for audio ques for the parry window. The main issue for me is that bosses in act 1 are way easier than a group fight

Seems pretty good, my guess you would probably like it.

It is super well done as far as being a really uniquely presented game and story. I realised with BG3 that I am not a huge fan of turn based combat either, as while that game is great I got bored and never finished it.

This one doesn't have anywhere near the mind numbing depth of character and resource management that other turn based combat games like BG3 have. So don't be put off by that label, as I was too at first and thought I made a massive mistake by not checking game tags carefully first lol

Ah yes, good old turn based real time strategy games :P

To answer your question though, probably not, no. Given the amount of combat in the game, if you don't like it, then it's probably not worth playing. The story is good, but do you want to spend 20-30 hours playing a game where you don't like the combat?

OP give this a try, it will aid people like you who resent dodge/parry systems and help you enjoy the game

Since this is a single player game, everyone has the right to enjoy it however he/she wants.
