Cannot figure out how attack timing works
When you attack with effects there is a timing window where you have to press a button (spacebar when using keyboard) at a specific time to increase the effects power. I can not for the life of me figure out how it functions or what exactly we are supposed to do.

Do you need to press the button at a specific point in time? Do you need to hold it for a specific interval? The option goes by so fast I can not even start to figure out what timing I am supposed to be trying to achieve. Thank

It's a diamond or square shaped box and a little line circles around it. When it's in the filled in area near the end you press the button for a perfect.

You press it when it's in the final quarter of the diamond, the top left section.

You have to hit the button when reaches the yellow part. Does like a cycle around the diamond. Have to wait and hit button when in the yellow line.
You can disable the QTE for attacks in the settings.

I was struggling to work out the same thing. In case it helps anyone else, this video is pretty early in the game, and she does a lot of pressing X at the right time in attacks, so can set YouTube to slow motion and see it in more detail https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=maLaQdK_6NQ

Thanks for the replies, that helped. I am used to press and hold. Was pressing as soon as the icon appeared and assumed I was timing the release wrong. They need a better intro and explanation to this
i kinda agree it took me 2-3 tries to get the timing consistent bc i had to pretty much guess when to press and it turned out to be the yellow portion.

Thanks, I also came here to learn this!

Try parry by sound, each enemy attack have a sound before it hits. You still have to time your parry, but this is WAY more consistent than guessing the animation.

Still cannot really figure it out. I understand the timing part, but do you have to hold down the key or quickly release it?
