Get an advantage before battle?

So just started playing and it mentioned shooting enemies weak points before engaging into battle. To get an advantage, but I have no idea how that works. When I shoot the golem in the face they just pause there. I run up to it and nothing happens, so what exactly am i suppose to do?

Nah you can melee before a battle to get first strike. Weak points are in battle where you aim at them.

RB before you enter into battle, it's not hard, damn, kinda sick the modern audience doesn't know how games work.

Yeah just figured it out thanks, figured had to be another attack or something

So, run up to the foe and just as you get into range do your melee attack on them (on PC the default is F) and this will give you advantage going into the fight.

Once the fight begins you will see those marks on their body indicating weak points - enter free aiming mode (hold right click on Mouse) and aim at those spots to shoot them before you attack.

Remember, though, that each shot reduces your starting energy so don't waste them.

Yeah was just thinking about that when got back on here. Has all the tutorial and tips guide. often I don't like reading that stuff unless really having a hard time. Cuz sometimes prefer to do stuff more organically. I know usually not the best approach.

good to know would have assumed was unlimited and shots would have no effect before battles

Well not really sure what your trying to imply, I literally just started playing the game and it never explained that you could melee. Atleast not yet in the tutorials only that you could shoot them. So I hastily went on here since knew that was going to drive me nuts.
