I REALLY hate the difficulty setting in this game
I am naturally drawn to hard games, and play them on the hardest if stupid settings are given, but this game is just pain. I wouldn't have an issue with how hard expert is, if it didn't feel completely pointless because you can just change the difficulty whenever you feel like it. Even in the old days, when Difficulty settings started becoming a thing, like in Kingdom Hearts for example, you were at least locked into that decision for that play through. It feels SO pointless to struggle when you can simply drop it to story mode and one shot everything, and you get absolutely no reward for struggling in battles where YOU get one shot by basic mobs. I just don't get it. At least give me some extra EXP, some more money, a better item drop rate, anything for artificially making the game more hard for myself because the devs wanted to sell more copies to people who can't play hard games. Or in the very least, lock me into my choice, so I can't just cheapen the experience with a click of the button.

If you don't have the self control not to change the difficulty, then you were not ready for a game with options to begin with.

Grown-ups have this skill where we learn to not use the options we don't like.

Also "When difficulty settings started becoming a thing - in Kingdom Hearts": wow, you are very young.

Tailor the game to how you want it. If you're not having fun, then why play? That said, I'll be on my high horse rolling through expert.

Difficulty as an anytime setting is good because it allows you to adjust if your original setting turns out to be easier/harder than you thought.
Why is it the dev's fault that you lack self-control? Just don't change the difficulty, lol.
This reads as a projection of a personal problem onto the design of the game. You are lashing out about the fact that this game gives player choice/freedom of difficulty because you lack self control.

Also, your post contradicts itself. If you need an incentive to play at a higher difficulty then you don't like doing it just for challenge itself as you first imply.

Oh, and you don't even own the game.
Personally I'm finding expert not that bad atm and hoping there is some kind of difficulty spike at some point, parrying seems way too op on top of building everyone for high crit chance to charge their best skills quicker is just melting everything.

Sometimes I think if all these negative posts are desperate Oblivion's simps
As if humanity couldnt play both games
And as if this dichotomy is even real 🙄

Wow what a presumptuous comment. Completely full of baseless assumptions. I am 38 years old. I'm not young, sadly.

Lack self control? My profile picture is me btw. I have endured hardships all throughout life, homeless-ness abandonment, sit at 5-10% body fat all year. did martial arts for 25 years, and prefer to play all games on the hardest difficulty, but I lack self control because the game presents near impossible challenges that can simply be cheapened? and my wish is that this wasn't possible?
Any and all of these comments attacking my "Lack of control" are those of pure jealousy, seizing an opportunity to try to lay low someone clearly has more control than yourself. I do not lack self control, at all.

I have no idea what you're talking about. How did Oblivion come into this all the sudden? Clearly some kind of projection happening here.

Right? Why can't we come to a compromise, where there IS a difficulty setting, but you actually have to commit it at game start, then, you can tie achievements and unlockables to higher difficulties, everyone wins. Instead, people just want everything in the palm of their hands, and avoid tailor made experiences like the plague.

I agree they should have at the bare minimum attached a trophy to setting and leaving it on the hardest difficulty. Without that, I'd say you really should only play on that setting if it gives you some personal satisfaction. I never would, I'd prefer to play a well-balanced game than a gruelingly frustrating and obnoxiously overly difficult one. What's the point.

Also you know the game is on Gamepass right...? Hard to take anything you say seriously while you seem to lack a logical mind..

There is so much wrong in your post from a psychological point of view.
Did you ever tried "self-control"?
