That's a tricky question. It kinda depends on how far you are with the games story.

A yearly cycle happens once a year, as the name implies. Meaning you can be anywhere between 32 years and 1 day to 32 years and 355 days old and not be grommaged on the day 33 is written. You also can be 33 years and 1 day and 33 years and 355 days old and be grommaged. Not everyone is EXACTLY 33 years old on the day of Grommage.

Meaning she is between 16 years and 1 day and 16 years and 355 days old. Depends how old Gustave was exactly, we never learn this. But obviously he didn't just turn 33.

Gustave is 32. You can turn 33 after the gommage happens. When she paints the number, everyone that age and older dies, but only on that day.

Maelle is 16. Just add one each year for her age and subtract one each year for the painting.
