Why are there so many people...
Asking if they can play the game without the quick time/dodge mechanics? It's been showcased as one of the MAIN points of the game. I guarantee most people throw it on expert, just to find out it's exactly what it says, HARD and get frustrated. These are the same people who will defend terrible combat systems like in FF7 remake and FF 16. Blows my mind.

Because people are lazy. They want games to play themselves. Sometimes i do too.... If the combat is bad. But this game has the best JRPG combat in a long time.

Because we want a turn based RPG, not a souls reaction based perfection timing game. These genres do not go together. I refunded it over the issue. I'll just watch it on yt as the story seemed cool.

People think every product ever should cater to their preferences. This isn't buger king!

It is a turn based RPG, it has nothing to do with dark souls lol. Legend of Dragoon, Shadow Hearts, Mario RPG, there are plenty of them out there. This one just makes you have to dodge as well. I get it's not for some people, but man the more I look into it, people just seem like they can't do it and blame the game instead of not wanting to put in the effort. It's a cakewalk on easy and a nightmare on expert.

Jumping, dodging, and parrying were not invented by Demon Souls. You can literally beat 90% of souls-likes without ever defending or parrying. It's also not even comparable since there is zero situational awareness in Clair Obscur since it's turn based and you don't move.

If you have no rhythm though, you'll never be good at the combat. It's like playing in 4/4 and all the delays on enemy attacks are polyrhythms trying to take you off the click. 10 out of 10, this game djents!

Its something you'll get used to within gaming on the internet. It's always "lower the game to my level" never "rise to the game's challenge".

expert is not hard and not frustrating at all, beating the boss are a lot of fun

they crafted great skill and combat system with great synergies and lot of area to plan ahead and beat way stronger opponent than you

So you want conformity to the norm ? You could say you demand it ? "The genres do not go together" weird cause it sure seems like they do.

I won't ever tell someone to "git gud." They have an easy mode for a reason which is fine for the people who want to enjoy games that way lol.

I'm not saying to change the game at all, it's the devs choice. In the past I beat games like Sekiro, but I don't really want to spend the time in endless trial and error like I did in these types of games, I just wanted a chill turn based RPG. Since they didn't make the game that way, I refunded it. What's not to understand? You can still enjoy it, but it's a valid criticism.

A game like Yakuza: Like A Dragon handled it better where the qte wasn't necessary but a bonus.

It makes the combat boring. There's the bones of a decent combat system in there but the QTE reliance renders it largely pointless. Just set the enemy on fire then press 'B' to avoid all damage; rinse and repeat until it falls over. It's like playing a rhythm game where the only music they could license was a click track.

Yeah, that's BS. You can't tell me this game is too hard but you had no problem beating the hardest souls-like where you HAVE to parry? Okay, lmao.
I do think having seperate difficulties for "strategy" (i.e. enemy damage and stats, etc.) vs "technical" in the same way some horror games have separate puzzle and combat difficulties

It's not BS, look at my games history. It's not that I CAN'T do it, it's that I DO NOT WANT to do it in this game. I never said Clair is too hard, I said it's a weird design choice and I don't want to grind out this type of combat anymore.
