PSA: Graphical issues fixes (NVIDIA)
1. Shadows Crushed:
Using the latest drivers from NVIDIA on a 5080 makes the game extremely dark.

You can either downgrade to 572.70 or look up the beta hotfix driver, if you don't want to bother with downgrading.

2. Game looking too sharp:
The game has an insane amount of sharpening. I recommend using the newest DLSS version with Preset K (if you are on a DLSS enabled card). There are multiple ways to do that, if you don't already know, just look it up, it's super easy.

Then you can add some engine tweaks.

a. Go to this folder:
%localappdata%\Sandfall\Saved\Config\Windows

b. create a new file. Call it "Engine.ini"

and add these:

[/script/engine.renderersettings]
; Post Processing Settings
r.MaxAnisotropy=16
r.Tonemapper.Sharpen=0.0

[ConsoleVariables]
r.MaxAnisotropy=16
r.Tonemapper.Sharpen=0.0

c. Save the file, close it and set it to "read-only". If you want to change more things later on you can uncheck that, change things and re-check it.

The new DLSS 4 together with those 2 changes should make the game look much better. You can also add additional engine.ini tweaks if you want to. Or look for mods that already do that.

If the game looks too smooth, you can increase the tonemap sharpen to 0.3 . You can play around with the value until you get something YOU like. For me 0 is perfect

I couldn’t figure out why the game looks so weird. I guess I’ll try updating my drivers first, then your solution. Thank you for posting!

Any way to reduce bloom or DOF?
Here a secondary solution for the sharpening and other fixes and improvements:

DoF mod is on Nexus. Just an ini file.

What's its name? I searched for "depth" and "dof" and found nothing

Oh, the one with the doggos, I'd never guess... as they say, don't judge a mod for its cover lmao
Many thanks!

my reccomendation is installin the clairobscurfix. It adds ASI loader to the game, and you can enable console in game. You first install the mod and it will give you a new ASI ini file inside your installation folder, where the .exe of the game is. You change some values inside of it from true to false or vice versa. Then, you can then test realtime settings. For example you can open the console and write down r.DepthOfFieldQuality 0 to disable DOF. You can then check if you like it or not and you can add anything you want in the engine.ini for permanent changes.
if you dont want to completely disable DOF i found these two commands make it less intrusive:

r.DOF.Kernel.MaxForegroundRadius 0.001
r.DOF.Kernel.MaxBackgroundRadius 0.001

as a sidenote. in console you write it like this:
r.DOF.Kernel.MaxForegroundRadius 0.001

but in the engine ini you need to do it like this:

r.DOF.Kernel.MaxForegroundRadius=0.001

otherwise it wont work.

feel free to experiment. If you dont want to install the ASI loader mod, you will have to manually adjust the engine.ini everytime you want to test a change.

I'm on the Deck and it looks mainly fine, but yeah....the over-sharpening is an odd feature to not be turn-offable.

Anyone know how to do it on Deck? Game seems mostly fine otherwise. About 4 hours in.
