Saving
So, I may have missed it, but, I don't really understand saving in this game.

It looks like the game automatically saves, with no option for manual saving. What are the criteria for said automatic saves? Is it like any time I fight? Do something in the menu? Periodically by time? Anytime I do anything? What?

And, if I leave the game, as in, to go to bed. Does it save when I quit or go to menu screen? And, regardless, where does it start me back from? Right where I was? The nearest Expedition Rest Point? Other?

Thanks for any clarification on the matter!

It auto saves. Not exactly sure what the criteria are, but they have been so far pretty generous.

It feels like it saves after every fight, anytime you find loot, anytime you use a flag, and anytime you mess with settings-- you're really not going to lose more than maybe a couple of minutes of running around.

(I've actually only quit out at flags, so not sure about the reload point.)
Thanks for the responses so far. I guess I will try and be near a flag when I call it a night, which should be soon-ish. Just don't want to get really far and then lose a ton of progress or anything.

But, wow, what a first session. Initial impression, this game might be something really special.

After each battle is the big one. Also, camping. Also, you don't to do anything, like rest, at a flag to save. Resting resets enemies and you may only want the save.

The only time I've gotten annoyed is when traversing the map really far and failing to camp before attacking and dying.

you can "manual save" by switching a character's weapon and switching it back.
