I've noticed a lot, if not most of the people having no issues or saying that it's 'fine' have hundreds of hours in Dark Souls games are are generally action gamers in general; those of us who are here as pure turnbased JRPG/Tactics gamers who don't engage with that genre at all are having a hell of a hard time trying to engage in a new reflex system/skill expectation that we are unfamiliar with and really didn't want. (hence the auto QTE option for attacks in the menu - it's just a shame there isn't something similar for defending)
Now if you just copy and paste that to the dozens of threads already complaining about the system maybe you will singlehandedly shut us all down.
... or maybe there's still an underlining problem that is preventing some people from having fun.
I play soul's games as well and having a hard time on normal with dodge and parry in this game
i died 20 times for that first optional boss but then i learned that the timming of the parry is 1 second before contact, died 10 more times because of the variation in movesets, but once i learned the way the game parry system works and that there will be multiple moves that require trial and error i stopped struggling with it and now it's just second nature, a very, very fun second nature aspect of this game's combat because of the high risk high reward that comes with the counter
Timed hits and timed defense don't belong in RPGs for the same reason that RPG meta progression doesn't belong in STG. It is fundamentally at odds with the core of the game concept.
If you could out-level and out-grind your woes in Mushihime Sama or Dodonpachi, then you devalue the game itself, insult the intelligence and skill of your players, and alienate the playerbase on all sides.
If you implemented a "slap" mechanic to chess, where in order to take your opponent's piece you must slap a certain area of the board before they can, then you immediately reduce the game to absolutely nothing.
Timed hits and QTEs do not belong in RPGs, and that's final.
I had the auto-block on there.
