Missing character voice audio
Hi everyone, I just started playing Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 today and I’m having a serious issue: there’s no voice audio from any of the characters. 😕

All the other sounds in the game work fine — music, sound effects, ambient sounds — but during dialogues and cutscenes, the characters are completely silent. No spoken lines, just subtitles (if enabled). I’ve already tried the following:

-Checked all in-game audio settings
-Reinstalled the game
-Verified the game files
-Changed the language
-Tested with both speakers and headphones

Still no luck. I’m playing on Pc, with the audio language set to English.

Is anyone else experiencing this? Could this be a bug in the launch version?

Would appreciate any help or confirmation 🙏

Hi there everyone, I found a fix for this on my PC, I think it is a bug with Stereo audio.

Go to System>Sound>Properties: Turn on Device Default Effects and Windows Sonic for Headphones

If that does not work, turn on Mono audio for your output device and then you should hear audio.

I hope this works for you all as well!

The game is beautiful, the music is amazing, but the lack of character voices really breaks the immersion and makes the game feel completely off :(

If anyone here hasn't, go to the bug report form and submit a report so the devs see it. Filtering through the steam discussion pages for bug reports seems incredibly inefficient and unlikely to be something they do, since they have a pinned post with the bug report form in here.

Found this thread having this issue on Xbox — Same problem. Solution is basically as it’s stated for console as well. If you’re using 7.1 surround sound the dialogue doesn’t work. But if switch it to uncompressed or Dolby digital it works. Just thought I’d leave this comment in case any googlers land here

I've also had this problem and in my particular case it was misconfiguration of speakers - set to 5.1 instead of stereo, which likely tried playing the voice via nonexistent center speaker.

You can fix/check it in windows sound panel (the older one with all devices) by selecting the speakers and clicking "configure"
