The fix is simple:

DLSS -> set to Quality
Chromatic -> off
Movie-noise -> off
Shading -> High

Whats mostly seems to make it look like crap is Shading on Ultra and DLSS set to DLAA.

I sometimes seriously wonder how no one saw this before release? I mean you just have to start the game once at max settings ...
they just need to include the sharpening slider, just about every dlss game has it its weird its not there.

What were you seeing on shading setting? Im trying between epic and high but cant see much difference, im in the water level right now though its hard to compare

To me the 2 settings with the most effect are Shading and DLAA - if you cobine both the game looks awful - so the solution to me for now was Shader to High instead of Epic and DLSS to Quality.

Im not sure if its really a sharpening problem - what you are talking about mostly is used with DLSS - but DLSS quality looks better than DLAA etc. But yes in general games look like that if sharpening is too high.

We will see - still this should have been an obvious thing to fix before release.

Something is definitely not right. DLAA at 4k maxed looks like garbage. Even the settings you have listed here, while they look better, is still oversharp and looks blurry a bit.
DLSS quality | PostProcessing LOW | MotionBlur OFF | Chromatic OFF | Movie-Noise OFF

These make the game look KRISPY.

The reason for PostProcessing set to LOW is because then it gets rid of DoF and makes the hair look 100x better and less meh.
I mean theres normally a sharpening slider in most games even with dlaa yeah? But yeah for the first time ever I actually apply a bit of blur (gaussian blur) in reshade that takes away some eye fatigue.
DoF is actually a useless setting in every game. When you are looking at something on your screen everything else around it is already blurred naturally. I don't see the appeal to double down on the blur honestly xD

Yeah it makes no sense - the same applies to head-bobbing etc. - nothing worse than DEVs adding that crappy nonsensical feature - especially when they add this vomit setting without a button to disable it ...

I agree with you - but not completely - i think DoF can be a nice feature when used for atmosphere - especially in cutscenes or sometimes to hide bad distance textures/details.

In general the Face textures look a bit weird - i hope they do some fixing soon.
