Chromatic Lancelier fight is killing me (literally and metaphorically)
I have spent past 2 hours trying to put CL down, lvl 3's, on expert and expeditioner. That said, I have no idea what I am doing wrong, but for the life of me I can't dodge/parry like 10 times in a row in order to kill him. He oneshots you if he hits ya, his animation is weird, he doesn't give audio or visual cues and if you dodge/parry a millisecond too early/too late, bam - start over. Is it supposed to be this way and you aren't supposed to kill him early unless you are a QTE God and can do it perfectly? Like, my best attempt was dodging him four times in a row by sheer luck, after that I mess up somewhere and it's back to sq 1.

Easy, took me about 12-15 tries, but I got him. Focus on his blade and when the tip comes forward.

The Chromatic Troubadour is even worse. All of my characters have ~30 Vitality. If I fail to parry a single attack from him he knocks them down from ~800 to 1 HP, and then kills them in his 4-5 hit combo. I don't know who the combat in this game is for, but it sure as hell isn't me.

He also attacks after every single one of your attacks. So even though he doesn't have a ton of HP -- you basically have to parry him about 50 times in a row, and if you fail once he kills your party member, then you're gonna spend the next couple rounds of parrying trying to get them back up.

If I finish this game it is going to be out of sheer spite.

I just got to him and have been stuck for about 20 minutes now. He's some kind of optional mini boss skill check or whatever. If you get frustrated, just leave him and come back later, cuz fighting frustrated will mess up your timing, at least it does for me anyway

You are amazing and no one can rival your skills. That doesn't really address my question though.

Took me like 9 attempts but it’s only that skill issue when you don’t have skills or passive to play with. Just do all qte perfectly or come back later.
Alright then, alright. Thanks for your input fellas, I will try again to get this SOB down. Cheers!

It took me 25-30 minutes (no idea how many attempts that turned out to be, probably well over 15) until I finally got the parry timing down, and I actually ended up killing him without taking any damage my final try. Getting him downed actually has helped inform how the parry timing works for most other enemies to this point.

What helped me get it is (and tbh even on Expeditionary difficulty timing is fairly tight) you gotta wait until it looks like you should be taking damage in the animation and then hit R1 (or whatever your equivalent is if you aren't using PS controller). Ordinarily in games the parry is *just before* you get hit, but this game seems to favor more right as you're *being hit* which is a lot different than I'm used to.

Genuinely the only useful advice I've seen in getting it right. Everyone else is basically saying to use the force, go off vibes, or guess until it works...

Yeah I made like half a dozen attempts on the Lancelier but the moment I saw the Troubadour's first attack I noped out of even thinking of trying again. Three hits interleaved with like 4 fireballs? That's not Mario RPG, it's Touhou.

Congrats, I took him down earlier by the skin of my teeth. I stacked burns from Lune and dodge dodge dodge!

For his trumpet slam combo, the third is faster than the other evenly spaced combo openers - the third carries the most damage.

The window for his fireball attack - you dodge his uppercut combo opener to balance the window between attacks for an even rhythm and parry the miasma.

i just beat him with advice from a general parry/dodge discussion. ignore the visuals completely and just go for audio. there is a "hissing"when the real attack starts. just hit dodge as soon as you hear it and you will land a perfect dodge. may need 1 or 2 tries to get used to the signal, but it 100% works. when i beat him i only took 1 hit. only looked at the screen to see what kind of attack he was about to perform and then look halfway away and focused on audio.

Oh my god thank you so much, I went from not being able to dodge him to perfect dodging him every time!
