FPS issues on highest setting
Anyone else having low FPS on the Epic setting?
I'm on a 1440p screen with -
5070ti
ryzen 7 9800x3d
32gb ddr5 ram
and I'm getting 55-65 FPS.
I haven't updated to the latest drivers yet because the new nvidia drivers have been borked but still I feel like the FPS shouldn't be this low.

I've been running monhun wilds with a solid 120FPS 1440p on max settings and that game was horribly optimized.

Am I missing something obvious here or is this game not optimized too well either?

Epic settings are very often extremely demanding for close to unnoticeable difference between high or medium.

So try high or medium with epic textures for more optimised experience.

I tried High and medium options and they barely change anything FPS wise, I have to switch to the lowest setting to get anything above 100FPS.
I seems you are playing with DLAA or TSR 100% scaling. I get 70-80 fps with 4090

I'm using DLSS and I've tried all the presets and they only vary by a few FPS.

Then adjust upscaling. EU5 was designed around upscaling. Some games can literally double the performance with even FSR/DLSS/TSR quality.

I personally get around 100-120fps on a 4K screen.

Then you are 100% gpu bound, you have a monster cpu but your graphics card isn't powerful enough to push high fps in this game. Monster hunter uses a vastly different engine, not a fair comparison.

Hello I see you only played 11 min, just to tell you the beginning ( tutorial ) have a lot of details and NPC, that is why you are low on FPS. I have with my 4090 around 90/102 fps

Once you are into the game, there is less NPC to show and the game become more smooth, I get to 154 fps on a 4090 full max settings and ultra wide.

I suggest you just try to do the tutorial with low FPS, and see what happen when you enter the expedission, there you can change settings and see how it goes.

Still note that it's a solo game, on thoses game we generaly prefer pretty than smooth, soooo 60 fps is generaly enough
Drop the settings lil bro.
I have a i9-13900k and 4080.

If I put on Epic Settings with DLSS Quality (@4k being rendered 66.7% to 1440) then I get about 80-100 FPS. Normally in the lower range near 80.

Putting on DLAA @4k (100% Native) I get about 100 FPS at the medium preset.

To my eye this looks the best, but I really am not a big fan of AI upscaling.
epic settings are stutter city for me on 11700k and 9070 XT at just 1080p. had to drop a lot of settings to medium-high and use tsr 50%. i would a little better framerate than OP on higher settings but TONS of stuttering which really messed with combat until i found settings that got rid of them.

I'm using around 70% of GPU according to task manager, not sure if that means the game isn't fully using my GPU or not though.

Ah I see, I'll try to get past the prologue then. Seeing the sub 60 FPS diminished my will to play the game a little so I had to turn it off.

Best way to check is to download special k (free), open up the UI when you are playing.

Click on "advanced", there you see a real-time graph that shows exactly if you are gpu or cpu bound, works on all games.

I totaly understand that ! and it's normal, but try yeah to see just a bit after the prologue when you leave the city, and hit use up if you find it smoother, ajust settings there and normaly it should be fine. Well at least for me it's running smoothly.

But really hope you can have fun on that game, because personaly I do and hope you get above 100 fps at least very soon

to add onto this, my GPU usage was bouncing somewhere between 70-100% a lot, and whenever it would touch 100% i would get stutters, and it would do this a lot. at least for me it seems there was something really inconsistent going on with my GPU usage that caused big fps swings and stuttering until i dropped the settings
