Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Statistiche:
How deep is combat/leveling/builds?
According to the screenshots / trailers, the game gives the impression that it is primarily a game about the plot / setting / atmosphere, and the combat is rather a secondary aspect. Is that true?

Build system is fairly deep. Once you get the hang of Luminas, you can some pretty cool synergies combined with characters unique abilities in combat
You can choose which stats to up every time you level and there is skill tree for unlocking new skill, gear, accessory, passive. lots of build variety imo

For combat you can actually take 0 damage if you are good at parry/dodge.

So, theoretically speaking, if you are some kind of madman who finished dark souls without taking damage, you can just go through the game with "starting weapon" ignoring everything else? Or its more limited than that?

If you are a madman then yes you can even parry magic and range attack
Would prob take a long time to kill tho with starting weapon and not wearing using any of the system.

I see, can't say that I'm a fan of this feature. If you can win with skill, its kinda reduces the need for tactics. What about game difficulties? Only defalt one, or maybe something vague like hard/easy? Or customizable one?

There is multiple difficulty for you to choose no custom.
Im playing on the highest difficulty you really need to land your dodge/parry the amount of damage they deal is very high.

I mean, not really. Every single enemy has unique attacks/timings. So even if you're a QTE god, you can't just waltz through the game without taking damage. Since you would first need to fight the enemies a couple of times to get a hang of their attacks. And there are some niche scenarios, usually mini-boss/boss fights, that bypasses dodge/parry, so you need to work around it.

I'll be comparing this to Metaphor and SMT's deep and tactical combat and tell you that your presumption is correct. The main selling point are the absurdly good characters and storywriting.

It still makes an effort though. Combat does look flashy and very cool and the combat to walking simulator ratio is quite fair for that price point.

I see, make sense. Guess I will wait a bit, not really in mood for plot heavy game
