People of the fence of buying
Please look at the reviews and watch a couple game play videos...
The game has some flaws but nothing devastating.
As of 3 hrs in. I've detected no political messaging, no modern bs terms.
The characters are well written.
Ofcourse half way through the game, it could all flip upside down on its head, but from what i've seen, I don't think it will.

The fear munglars honestly need to chill.
Id hate to see a new team lose sales or credibility for bs takes.
Cheers mates. If you have questions I'll gladly try to help give a idea of the game.

I'm somewhat of a fence munglar person, myself.

I'm very anti-DEI, and I'm buying this game, BTW. So that first statement is possibly a lie.

I'm anti-DEI and have only played the first hour, but it's my favorite first hour of a JRPG in a very long time. The setting and plot premise are fantastic and characters are likable and well-written. The DEI crowd likes to make everything they touch ugly, but this is a beautiful game top to bottom. Female characters are thin, attractive, and modestly dressed. Hopefully they don't ruin it later on, but first impression is that they had a great artistic vision that they stuck to rather than injecting political agendas.

The bigger concern for me is the combat. Haven't seen much of it yet but it has the potential to be jank and mediocre. But as long as it stays a fairly linear, story driven game that keeps the plot moving and doesn't have a bunch of backtracking and a million pointless sidequests, it doesn't need top-tier combat to be a good, memorable game.

That's good to hear! I enjoy open world games but also really enjoy linear games if the story is well-written, which this appears to be. The characters are great, from all the videos I've seen. The anti-woke crowd likes to latch onto everything (very occasionally for a good reason...but usually not) and seeing the forums, this game is no different in that way.

I generally HATE QTEs and don't believe they have a place in modern games, even on consoles, but these seem to be somewhat bearable with the combat system that is in place.
I'm definitely buying this one, and am glad to support this developer.

You don't like wheelchair ramps and maternity leave?

I dislike them in any game and it is POSSIBLE to switch them off for at least all outgoing attacks. This means already ~50% of them can be negated by simply turning on this option

Do you know if the option to turn these off makes them auto-"succeed" or if they make it auto-"perfect", since there's two degrees of success when doing them manually?

You may be a bit confused about what DEI in the context of gaming means, or what it means to a lot of people. To me, it means pushing a "diversity" message down our throats at the expense of good storytelling and characters. We are talking about a FANTASY game in a FANTASY setting, and I'd rather leave all the real-world problems at the door.
The game doesn't need any wheelchair ramps or maternity leave written into the story.

Caricaturing sock-puppets, obvious bait and posts complaining about woke-posts seem to be outweighing the actual woke posts. And the usual suspects can’t help but engage with any and all of them. If they where to just ignore them, the posts would slide into obscurity in a matter of minutes. One would be forgiven for thinking that’s not their actual intention.

Been seeing you around this games discussion board, thank you for being a helpful lad!

And I agree, from the material I’ve seen there doesn’t really seem to be an overt agenda to this game. Other than the attempted normalization of people with heads just slightly too big enough to make you look twice. /s

Only jank i noticed with combat is the Perry feels a touch too fast, and the qte is a bit hard to see at times.
But im 30 and wear glasses so maybe im just blind lol or skill issues. Probably both. After all nothing like waiting 5sec for a spear stab and wanting to smash the perry or dodge button ever .5 sec. 😑
Ive unlocked a couple new skills that are neat. I look forward personally to seeing what the rest are.

I really don't like posting around steam forums anymore due to the number of trolls but yea so far this game is great. It gives off a lot of Shadow Hearts vibes for me too, maybe its the combat, I don't know.

Yes lol the heads/ animation designs does that to me too lol
I ask my French friend if bigots gave them big heads lol simple response was shut up lol

Yeah I sometimes browse the boards for xyz reasons and just get annoyed with disingenuous topic/discussions.

Thanks for your share, and same for the others.

W/e bro. Call it what you will. I made the post to try and promote a actual positive and genuine discussion.
Not some bonified extreme take.

i mean you did kinda bait the situation into happening. what you could have said to avoid this would have been:

"People of the fence of buying

This is how you promote positive and genuine discussion of a game.
