If i understood correctly, each year people of the age depicted by the paintress die, but what if they surpass that age during that year?

Example: Guy is 33 years old, paintress kills everyone 34 years old and writes 33.

Guys turns 34 before end of next year.

Or does the paintress curse work on the age you have in the moment she paints the number?

If you played past the intro, you'd know about that certain character they meat on the continent at first and why they are all super confused at seeing him too.
What they say when they meet him, should confirm to you the "and up" part.(trying not to spoil but ♥♥♥♥ this is hard with this... XD)
