Whats the Point?
I've played for about 2 hours now and I have to admit that I don't understand the story or see any point in what I'm doing. I get to run 3m or do a fight and then have another cutscene full of melancholy. To be honest, I'm missing a bit of a common thread or a sensible introduction as to WHY I'm on the expedition now and what the point is supposed to be.
Apart from that, the game looks really great, but I have to admit that it hasn't grabbed me at all yet and I involuntarily look at my mobile phone during the cutscenes instead of following along because it doesn't grab me.

its easy i refund it
The world is wrecked. For unknown reasons somehow attached to the Paintress, once a year she paints a number one less than before on the monolith and everyone that age and above gets Thanos'd out of reality. It has become a tradition to send Expeditions made of people who want to make a difference or are about to get Gommaged (the local term for it) to sail towards the Monolith in an attempt to find the Paintress and stop her. Thus far, everyone has died (or to be more precise, nobody ever returned), but you have to succeed because what's left of Paris is running out of people due to depopulation and depression.

It's not that complex, and much more hopeful than many classic JRPGs it clearly tries to emulate.

You're the next one to die if you don't go on the expedition. You're welcome.

Thank you. Then i got the point right. But tbh at the time im not hooked. I'll give it another try
Wow, I just googled, "Expedition 33 am I supped to know what's going on?" While in the first 30 minutes of the game because the cutscenes have been quite uninteresting to me lol and this topic came up.

I'm of course going to keep going, but it's nice to know I'm not alone in my feelings.

that was a funny one, you can have my points.
My brain hurts reading this.....how could the circumstances for which they're going on this expedition not of been made crystal clear? The plot is to go on an expedition for 33 minutes obviously!

You paying attention? TF you mean why you on this expedition. Lmao 2 hours is more than enough to understand the intro
The start of the game is confusing. I spent around an hour going "The hell is going on?" but there is a charm to how they did the story, it all unveils over the course of the game, it makes you feel more involved. Also, listen to the journals as the final words of the other expeditions can sometimes be kooky, they fill the gaps of the story where you might be curious as to what is going on.

Don't care if it grabs you or not. Grabs a lot of us.

What is confusing? A cosmic event occured fracturing Paris into a destroyed island where an entity known as the Paintress is counting down from 100 dusting everyone that age. We begin 67 years on where 66 expeditions have gone out to stop this to no avail made up of volunteers who usually only have one year left to live

This is like reading Lord of the Rings and being upset it has rings in it.
The game will all spell it out, every single little thing anyone may find even remotely confusing will be explained. But to not understand why you are even on an expedition even though the prologue makes it abundantly clear why people go on expeditions is a bit weird... maybe just pay attention while playing the game? :-D
