Looking weird?
I don't know if there is an issue on my side but the game looks super weird to me.

I'm not making this thread to bash, I'm sincerely wondering if there is something wrong on my end or if anything can be done to improve the image quality.

For me it looks a bit like if the game is rendered at a very low resolution, then upscaled and on top an intense sharpening filter is added.

However it's making the image looking just weird as there are not enough texture information to sharpen the image properly so it just looks oversharpened. For example the hair looks very low quality and even a bit pixelated.

Just to be clear, I disabled already all the blur effects, though I double checked as even after disabling it, it kinda looks like there are some sort of post processing effects like it in place.

The resolution I'm using in fullscreen is 4k and in borderless window for some reason the game shows 8K resolution which I can't change even though my desktop resolution is 5120x2880. So that also seems to be off. But even with borderless it still looks similar..

Another issue is that I can't change resolution in fullscreen at all. Whenever I change it, it immediately reverts back to 4K

It is because of filters. They're using post processing to make give it a cinematographic vibe.

You can disable the following settings in the menu to get back clarity:
Chromatic Aberration
Film Grain
Motion Blur
Vignette (optional)

This, same with oblivion, this is UE5 artifacts from the bad post processing the engine has. But this game doesn't exhibit all the flaws like oblivion does.

It does look a bit better that way for sure but unfortunately that helps only to some extent..still looks totally unnatural and weird to me with all of these disabled.

Especially the shadows look terrible and textures sharp but lacking details.
Also make the male character look into the camera and pause the game and you will see his beard flickering like crazy.

By the way..does anyone have an idea what could lock my fps to 60?

I have it set to unlimited in the menu and didn't use any other tool to cap the fps but no matter which dlss setting I'm using I get only 60 fps max.

Oh and does anyone know if it's possible to get rid of the ugly blurry text boxes when having subtitles enabled? I find it quite distracting..

Still looks like ass, they have used fillers to make the game look better than it actually is but just ends up looking cheap. Art direction is nice but animations are bad, but its not AAA so it can be forgiven.

The games visuals are a mess, grass popping, visual artifacts everywhere, grainy and flickering shadows etc

I dont even understand how reviewers can give such a high rating to a game in this technical state

They just had systems that can run it well.

I am playing on a 4090. How is my system bad?

I had to set Global Illumination to Epic in order to remove some pretty terrible flickering on a lot of objects like hats in the opening area. Anything lower wouldn't work regardless of any other setting or choice of upscaler.

Random first play images. Have no idea why they are smaller than 3840x1600 which is what I was gaming at. Just loaded the video captures in Vegas and took frame grabs. Odd.

Uploading the vids to YouTube atm; will post links. I used RTX TRUE HDR for HDR so rendering at YT will take a while.

Thought it was quite playable after the following tweaks though still a tad pixelated at the ends of hairs, etc. Not perfect but better than vanilla when I started.

I was getting 90 to 100fps at 3840x1600 playing DLSS Balanced (14900K/4090).

1. Playing with the latest DLSS .DLL (310.2.1)
2. Disabled: Chromatic Aberration, Film Grain, Vignette
3. DLSS is set to BALANCED
4. Did the Engine.ini sharpening disable hack

Yes I'm here for this exact reason..

It's an HDR capture so will take the typical 3 days or so for YT to render the HDR version but gives an idea ... not too bad, hopefully some tweaks/patches will be released to help with the remaining, slight pixelation here and there.

3840x1600 ... chose the 4K60fps option ...

Switching dlss to quality worked for me

dont worry, its not your end, its the game. hoping the devs sort it soon.
Same issue, the game looks like It Is rendered at a very low resolution and than badly upscaled... even with all the post processing effects disabled. Only the cutscenes and npc dialogs look fine to me. Hope It gets fixed soon.
