Looking weird?
I don't know if there is an issue on my side but the game looks super weird to me.

I'm not making this thread to bash, I'm sincerely wondering if there is something wrong on my end or if anything can be done to improve the image quality.

For me it looks a bit like if the game is rendered at a very low resolution, then upscaled and on top an intense sharpening filter is added.

However it's making the image looking just weird as there are not enough texture information to sharpen the image properly so it just looks oversharpened. For example the hair looks very low quality and even a bit pixelated.

Just to be clear, I disabled already all the blur effects, though I double checked as even after disabling it, it kinda looks like there are some sort of post processing effects like it in place.

The resolution I'm using in fullscreen is 4k and in borderless window for some reason the game shows 8K resolution which I can't change even though my desktop resolution is 5120x2880. So that also seems to be off. But even with borderless it still looks similar..

Another issue is that I can't change resolution in fullscreen at all. Whenever I change it, it immediately reverts back to 4K

It looks very weird yes. I am not sure what it is either. I believe its the over sharpening filter is so high that it makes the image quality looks really bad. I am hoping for a fix soon.

Man I am tired of gamea launching in bad state
I am assuming you turned off the upscaler itself, right?
It looks exactly like it’s rendered from low resolution below 1080p maybe 720.

The game should have been like the cutscenes graphics
Make sure your DLSS is turned to DLAA. DLAA isnt up-scaling it native resolution utilizing DLSS.
That should render to your monitor and it output limit.

Turn off all post processing settings

No, there's some sort of sharpening/posterization shader being applied, it's got nothing to do with DLSS. In fact strangely with DLAA it seems to look a bit worse than with DLSS to me.

Which one you mean? DLSS?
I tried all variations available, DLSS, XESS, TSR and played also with the different settings.

I updated DLSS to the most recent version which makes it look slightly better I think but still not great.

Also I noticed the game has super heavy noise..for example the shadows look really noisy, same as the hair and other things. The game looks kind of blurry and oversharpened at the same time.

Maybe the game uses heavy Anti Aliasing (even if turned to low) but still it doesn't seem to manage to get the image completely stable somehow.

Also the texture quality, especially of the faces look a bit low quality, for instance if you look at the beard in close up it's not crisp and lacks detail. I'm not sure if the game just uses low res textures or if an upscaling, Anti Aliasing or anything is casuing it to look that way.

I really hope there is a way to improve this as otherwise the game, art style etc seems to be really pretty and nice. Also I really like narrative driven games like this.

Yes, I read in another thread that it looks like there is a bug that DLAA and DLSS Quality might be reversed. And I think it's true that Quality mode looks indeed a bit better than DLAA.

I turned it down to the DLSS Performance setting and the sharpening is way less noticeable. I think I actually prefer it to the higher fidelity settings which is not ideal

Been noticing the noisy shadows, the textures themselves look great in cutscenes but in gameplay the faces can look little low res. Seems like something is definitely going on with the upscaler. Set DLSS to DLAA quality and that should resolve some issues for you.

Also I've been noticing some really bad ghosting with white trails lagging behind npcs or some flickering with objects like trees near the courtyard prior to the harbor. Toggled different upscalers, swapped settings around, dropped resolutions and implemented special k to tinker a bit more and try to resolve the issue to no avail.

Was hoping to be able to run the title at 1440p or 1620p and drop the internal render resolution to get the best of both worlds (quality / performance) but in fullscreen the game defaults to 1080p no matter what resolution I select.

Hope to see some fixes or at least workarounds soon.

Really hope they can roll out some updates as I've been loving the title so far but those shadows

Hmm yes..the ghosting is also indicating towards an upscaler or Anti Aliasing issue..

Interestingly none of the reviews I saw so far was mentioning any of these things which I find a bit..weird. In other titles they are nitpicking every little thing and here they don't even bother to mention any of it but are just full of praise for everything.

I wonder if Digital Foundry will bring a video and if so if they will mention these things are also just ignore it.

But even more let's hope the devs are looking into it and do something about it.
The game is otherwise nice, it would be very disappointing if these things would not be addressed.

Regarding DLAA, I don't recommend using it. As mentioned above it seems to look worse than DLSS Quality as of now.

Turn down Post procesing. Example https://ibb.co/6cXD2wNj
https://ibb.co/Z68xDtj5. I play on high post procesing setting, all others is epic

I have a similar problem. Having a 32:9 (7820x2160) monitor the game seemed compatible, discovering at the first fight that some of the skills were cut off from the view. I tried to change the resolution but it's impossible, it resets every time to 3820x1080 both in fullscreen and in borderless window. Unable to play in 16:9 or 21:9. In the Nvidia controls it doesn't appear possible to force the resolution (I have the game on gamepass) and I'm very pissed off. I'm trying to play it on my laptop connected to the TV... Playing it via the cloud on Gamepass is impossible, there's a crazy delay in the commands and the graphics suck. If anyone can change the resolution via the .ini file please tell me so I can buy it on Steam and at least enjoy it.
I've been playing on Xbox Series X, where there's no AI upscaling. I came looking for others possibly experiencing the same issue. I think this is just a common issue for the game at this time, for everyone.
