French vs English
The French voice over is fine (despite the lip sync being based on English) but there is something off with the actual phrasing.

I've got that nagging feeling that it's like watching the dubbed version of a movie, as if the game was written in English first (which in all fairness is rather common when it comes to French games).

It is slightly disappointing considering that many French games don't come with a full French voice over which makes playing them in French jarring and I had been looking forward to playing this one in French.

Is it just me or does anyone else feel like I do?

I love it. French is an European language. I love these latin languages like French, Italian, Greek, and Spanish. I play this one in English though.

The French voice over is ok. It's not amazing but it does the job. Now, some music tracks on the other hand... sometimes with Latin and French and sometimes I get the English version. The English tracks so far are really ugly/bad.(imo)
As for the English voice over: Although the game was mocapped with French actors, the English voice actors they got, did a stellar job compared to the French one.

TLDR: The French voice actors are ok but you gotta try the English voice overs too as, although, it doesn't always fit, they did an incredible job.

Now, if we could stop people on youtube, from pronouncing Lune like there's a whole alphabet existing after the first 3 letters, that would be perfect.

Greek is a Latin language? Not a Greek language?:p
I have to say that English voice actors swearing in French tends to break immersion.

Why?
I imagine it as if they are all well educated in English speaking schools but come from French speaking families so resort back to their native language to curse :D

Well the French tend to swear a lot when they talk and they often make up some really creative swear words on the fly. Trying to translate that to English would be very difficult.

BUUUUUT at the same time, seeing the characters swear with just basic stuff as it is in the game so far, in both English and French is annoying. Creative insults and swearing would have been nice to vary from merde and putain.
Plus being French I can state that most can't pull off the correct pronunciation.

I agree, but not because of the pronounciation or anything. More because in one scene they will be swearing in English and then in the next they swap to French. But it's not even a swear that can't be translated, it's the equivalent of the word they had just used.

That too.

I'm loving the game so far but that stuff still bugs me.

Clearly you dont know any French Canadians because my friends are constantly swearing in French when were speaking in English. Its definitely a thing, I love it.

I don't speak French so I like the French VO in this game a lot, much better than the English VO for my taste.

Sure, but Canadian French is not the language that is used here.

There are many swear words that are only used by French Canadians and they are not in this game.

Plus it actually makes sense for French speakers to speak English if they're trying to communicate with English speakers and still curse in French but in the game we have English speakers speaking English and swearing in a foreign language.

Why would they do that if not to add a bit more Frenchness to the whole thing?

My point is that it only works if you're not fluent in French as you may feel it adds to the atmosphere and that it's more exotic than relying on the F word.

I would probably find it less egregious if they did a better job with the French pronunciation (most can't get the French /u/ and the French /r/ right and that's distracting).

Putting that aside it's rather unfortunate that Daredevil can't say "Lune" without making it sounds like looney.

Regardless I think it's cool that the poster above is having a great time with the French voice over and I wish I could enjoy it that much (and for the record I do play games with original voices even if I don't speak the language as it adds a lot to the experience).

With hindsight not being fluent probably helps with the enjoyment of the voice over.

Honestly. Why can't English women act? It's always like this. All female characters sounds much better, more feminine and simply more pleasing in French. It's not just language. I'm talking about putting emotions, being flirty etc.
English version has literally zero appeal.

Canada is an imaginary country for Europeans. Than means any French speaking Canadians are also imaginary, and their concept of speaking proper French is same as any US citizen speaking proper English.
