This does not look good.

I'm doing my very best here to low ball it but let me tell you - I'm not very pleased with how this game looks or performs.

Got a brand spanking new RX 9070 XT and all I can get is 1080p if I wanna stay above 60FPS - no FSR of any kind which makes it even worse since TSR and XESS both look like ♥♥♥♥♥ in their own way with native Anti Aliasing settings. The only way I could get a smooth and somewhat decent looking image out of this was to downscale it from 1080p to 1440p via VSR and then upscale it via XESS Ultra.

The way this is currently optimized in terms of performance and image quality absolutely sabotages the great work your graphics designers have done in terms of the art direction. This really is an absolute shame and I hope this'll get remedied, soon.

1440p with a 3060 Ti and a Ryzen 7 5800x. The game looks and runs great with medium/high settings.

This UE is a just not good, bloated eye candy that make you use upscaling to then make it look bad.

UE worlds are so dead look at the town at the start all the people fixed in place canned short animations cannot move through them you hit hit like a brick wall. Nothing in the world interacts or reacts to the character Compare this to the like of AC unity.

Not a thing that works with VSR it seems. My native resolution is 1080p. I'm using VSR to go up to 1440p (now 4k, actually) and then use an upscaler (preferably FSR4 potentially modded in by optiscaler). In this case XESS. Combining upscaling and Downscaling typically gives me the best mix between image quality and framerate.
Compared to other games with similar visuals with an RX 9070 XT I should at least get 1440p natively well above 60FPS.
From what I've gathered it's the typical UE5 performance. However, UE5 can run and look better but it does require a bit of work from the developer's side.
What baffles me a little bit is that the prerendered cutscenes also look absolutely horrendous at times. Tons of jaggies, out of wack DOF and tons of other artifacts.

I think the devs can absolutely do some finetuning for more performance and visuals.

The art direction does - the image quality does not.
Look at Assassins Creed Odysssey by comparison. Basically the same and in many instances better fidelity and that one runs at 4K at around 100 FPS.

Only thing we can hope is game gets FSR 4 support somehow and that helps with image quality problems. But game is absolut masterpiece other than poor image quality.

Agreed. The art direction is also stunning - it's just held back by the lackluster (engine) optimization.

XeSS is looking very great and better than any FSR 3. FSR4 would be nice but XeSS is doing a great job, i only use it.

lol with 9070xt i can play mh wilds at 4k max graphics fsr 4 quality at stable 55 fps in town sections/plains section. note: i used texture decompressor to get rid of microstutters completely
with FG i can play 120 fps at open world, around 90 in town/plains
my cpu is a 5800x btw, not some fancy 9800x3d.

Your comment was probably bait anyway and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ it worked flawlessly.
