I'm still getting fisheye with this at 21:9.
Lyall to the rescue, thanks again.
I don't unstand why devs are so allergic to UW.

it's fine on ultrawide for me during gameplay.

BUT cutscenes are not ultrawide. They have a big black border around the whole image. So they appear zoomed out which is really annoying. Is there a way to fix that?
Yeah, it's insane. Horrendously bad. Can't understand what happens during the cutscene whatsoever. I'm gonna play this on my TV.
Same problem here on 32:9

Fisheye?

I'm playing at 3440x1440. The fix unlocks fps during cutscenes and ensures the FoV doesn't screw up after the tutorial.

There's defo no fisheye for me but I dont like the default fov. It's too zoomed in. Trying to work out if I can edit the ClairObscure.ini with a line that would work.

This is not working for me

All the fix does is unlock fps in cutscenes and stop fov from being zoomed in after the tutorial.

If a ClairObscure.log file has been created in the game folder, the fix is working.

Im regard to enabling the console with a keybind and then adjusting fov... that isn't working for me. The default fov is still too zoomed in for my liking.

Can anyone advise either with this fix or with an ini file edit, how to enable the ingame console and/or adjust the fov.

Any and all help would be GREATLY appreciated, TY!

UPDATE

I installed v003 and the ` (grave accent) key enables the console and I can increase the FoV. The ~ (tilde) key did nothing for me.

You can then EASILY increase the FoV by typing for example "fov 105", without the " ".

SO HAPPY!

Hope this helps!

EDIT:- A few things I've noticed - open world and dialogue default FoV's seem to be different. By default, open world seems to be 85 and during dialogue scenes, it's 40, (and I think it's different for the fights too - looks like it's around 75). The problem is - when you set ingame FoV to example 95 using the console, it then sets the dialogue scenes (and fight scenes) to 95 as well and that looks kinda... weird.

Anyone know if there is a console command that only adjusts the one FoV? TY!

If you're getting the zoomed-in bug at 5120x1440 (32:9 ultrawide resolution) in Expedition 33, ClairObscurFix by Lyall does fix it — but you might need to move the files around a couple of times to get it working properly.

Here's exactly what worked for me on both the Xbox Game Pass version and the Steam version (encountered the issue on both, and was able to get the mod working properly on both):

1. Install ClairObscurFix normally into the Expedition 33 main folder where the .exe is located.

On Xbox/Game Pass, the path is something like: \XboxGames\Clair Obscur- Expedition 33\Content

On Steam, the path is: \Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Expedition 33\

1.1. After you extract/install the mod, you’ll see two new text files (license and instructions) appear where the .exe is.

1.2. ClairObscurFix.asi, ClairObscurFix.ini, and dsound.dll will automatically get moved into [Steam \Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Expedition 33\Sandfall\Binaries\Win64] / [Xbox \XboxGames\Clair Obscur- Expedition 33\Content\Sandfall\Binaries\WinGDK].

2. Launch the game once.
2.1. No zoomed screen during/after tutorial? Great, it’s working.
2.2. Zoomed during tutorial? Mod isn't working? Keep reading.

At this point, the files are in the correct folder, but if you still encounter zoom (you'll know it's zoomed in because your character will only be visible up to their waist in combat, abilities will also be zoomed in, and after exiting combat you'll have a zoomed-in FOV all the time). Restarting the game will fix the FOV outside of combat temporarily but not inside combat, and there is a high chance that the zoom bug outside of combat will trigger again later, especially during your second fight against Maelle during the festival. To properly fix it from the start, follow these steps.

3. Fully close the game and manually move the three mod files (.asi, .ini, .dll) back UP to the main Expedition 33 folder next to the .exe.

4. Launch the game again.
You’ll probably still see the zoom bug once more after the first fight.

5. Fully close the game again and move the three mod files back DOWN into the Sandfall\Binaries folder again.
(So basically, you’re putting them back where they auto-moved the first time — WinGDK folder on Xbox, Win64 folder on Steam.)

6. Launch the game again. The tutorial fight should not zoom in anymore. Mod now works.

Tested and confirmed working on both Xbox and Steam versions.

Notes: I tested this by using a save file at the very start of the game, meaning you never encounter the zoom bug on that save file. I don't know if it fixes an existing save file — meaning, a save file that already encountered the bug, where restarting seemed to remove zoom outside of combat but still had zoom inside combat.

If you don't fix the zoom properly from the first tutorial fight, even if you restart the game later, your save might already be bugged. At least from my testing, I had to delete the save file, and that's when I saw it was a reliable fix. Using the first auto-save the game generates (when you pick the flower) seems to be okay, so you don’t need to restart a completely new game every time.

When I thought the bug was fixed just by relaunching once, it actually wasn't — combat remained zoomed while exploration wasn't. Later, during Maelle's fight, zoom bugs would return even outside of combat. Relaunching temporarily fixes FOV outside of combat but does not fix combat FOV once it’s broken.

I also tried skipping the move-around steps on Steam after I had gotten the Xbox version working, but the issue persisted. Only after deleting the save file, moving the files back to the .exe, launching, moving them back into Sandfall\Binaries, and relaunching again was the bug entirely prevented from appearing.

Only a completely fresh New Game after doing this file move procedure fully stabilized the FOV for me.

Optional:
Also, if you want to have ultrawide gameplay while keeping black bars during cutscenes (so you don't get cropped scenes), make sure to set The Cutscene Letterboxing option to " = true" in your ClairObscurFix.ini file, a # will not work

Hope this helps anyone struggling with 32:9 zoom bugs! Huge thanks to Lyall for making this mod in the first place! MVP! You can buy him a coffee here to thank him https://ko-fi.com/lyall
