History is filled with developers who made great games that didn't sell.
I mean it depends on what you mean by ''did not sell''. For example Days gone did not sell enough for playstation. But it did sell ALOT of copies.
True but it's all relative in terms of budget and cost of making the titles and how many developers they have. For example AC:shadows might sell 6-7 million copies and that might not be enough. While this game has from what i've heard a really small team of like 30 people. So if this game sells just a few million that might already be a success.
Current Steam Top Revenue as of this post:
1. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered
2. Counter-Strike 2
3. Steam Deck
4. Clair Obscur: Expedition 3
5. Schedule I
We'll see how it goes -- might be some short-term impact but if it's really good/fun and generates word of mouth it will be fine in the long run.
